Abstract

The study describes the views of psychologists (represented by students of psychology departments) and potential clients (represented by future history teachers) on the credible image of a psychologist. The research reveals that students gaining Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Psychology and future history teachers have the similar ideas of the qualities of a trustworthy psychologist and his/her costume features. About half of the respondents attribute a rectangular silhouette to a psychologist that is regarded as a symbol of power and high status. The study identifies that respondents want to see a psychologist wearing few clothes that can be perceived as a symbol of youth. Almost all respondents think that long clothes made of soft and light or compound fabrics are suitable for a psychologist. The research clarifies that future psychologists and history teachers prefer to see psychologists in classic clothes.
