Abstract

The author considers the need to determine the criteria to assess the linguistic and methodological competence development in future foreign language teachers. It should be done in the context of determining the efficiency of the pedagogical system of linguistic and methodological competence development in future foreign language teachers in the process of their professional training. The author defines the concept of criterion as a means of checking the linguistic and methodological competence development in the course of the research. The criteria proposed in the study (motivational-value, professional activity, and reflexive-creative) to assess the linguistic and methodological competence development are intended to stimulate future teachers to realize the importance of pedagogical self-improvement during their future professional activity, as well as to encourage future foreign language teachers to plan and create programs for their constant professional self-development.
