Abstract
The article reveals the general characteristics of the concepts of «humanism», «humanitarian knowledge». Modern educational trends in the processes of humanization and humanitarization of education, which are the basis of sustainable development of society, are determined. The special role of the intelligentsia in solving these problems is shown. The authors also consider the issues of effective formation and competitiveness of modern specialists with higher education as individuals.
