Abstract

We consider the emotional burnout issue among counselors in children’s health camps. A description of the structural and content features of the burnout syndrome is based on an analysis of the work of foreign and Russian researchers. The specificity of the syndrome of emotional burnout is revealed among specialists working in the system of professions such as “person–person” in general and among leaders in children’s health camps in particular. The attention is focused on the personal, content and social characteristics of counselors’ professional activities as powerful stress factors. Particular attention is paid to the forms and methods of prevention of burnout syndrome among counselors. Optimal conditions for organizing a mentally safe developing environment in children's health camps are necessary. The results of the ascertaining stage of the pedagogical experiment based on V.V. Boyko’s methodology show that most counselors are in the second phase of emotional burnout called “Resistance”. As a result of the pedagogical experiment, the necessity and effectiveness of psychological and pedagogical prevention of emotional burnout of counselors in children’s health camps is proved.
