Abstract

Purpose. The article considers the issues of modeling fire development in settlements using a special time network. The aim of the work is to increase fire-fighting efficiency. The main task is to increase the objectivity of fire development modeling in rural areas taking into account their extinction. The object of the study was rural settlements; the subject of the research is the development and extinction of fires in them. Methods. The study is based on mathematical and situational modeling, expert methods, regression analysis. The novelty of the work is that a special network can be formed on the basis of these methods. Its nodes are buildings, arcs are the time intervals of fire spreading from one building to another. ABSTRACT Findings. The article describes the procedure for constructing a time network as a graph and determining the weights of its arcs considering the distances between buildings, their fire resistance, wind strength and direction and other factors. A hypothetical example of fire dynamics is given both with free development and with fire extinction taken into account. The relevance is that so far this the development of a fire in rural areas was practically not modeled. It all came down to statistics and the experience of firefighters. The novelty of the study is that this time network is proposed and substantiated for the first time. Research application field. The results of the work canbe used in fire science, namely in the quantitative modeling of fire development in rural areas and its extinction. This willfighting fires. Conclusions. For the first time a method for quantitative modeling of fire development and extinction in rural areas is proposed. It can be used in fire tactics. In the future it is planned to study the features of constructing an expression for determining the weights of the network arcs taking into account specific fires.
