Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of basic culturological factors of the emergence of tourist destinations in Central Ukraine in the 19th century. The author attempts to examine social development in relation to the emergence of tourist activity. The paper describes cultural processes that affected both preservation of the identity of Ukrainians being under foreign reign and the genesis of tourist destinations in this region. The article emphasizes the significance of a comprehensive, thorough scientific research of this issue. Exploring the genesis of tourist destinations, the author draws attention to the importance of comprehensive interdisciplinary study of not only the retrospective of the preservation of the self-identity of Ukrainians in the 19TH century, but also the protection of cultural values, monuments, historical memory and people’s identity in the modern period of existence of the Ukrainian state. Methodology of the resesarch involves using general scientific and special methods, namely: analysis, synthesis, genetic, culturological methods, etc. The systematic analysis of culturological components of the corresponding period and region aims to identify the socio-cultural processes relevant to the research topics. The author concludes that the issue of identity is closely connected with the study and protection of historical and cultural monuments, development and popularization of the material and spiritual treasures of culture in this country and abroad, which at the same time are also attractive tourist destinations for visitors from around the world. This research approach in the sphere of formation, development of culture and tourism can be the basis for new professional research, advanced solutions and integrated measures of corresponding state bodies and institutions.
