Abstract

This paper aims to explore the possibility of developing metaverse-based tasks that reflect the characteristics of KFL learner needs and TOPIK speaking tests. Accordingly, this paper examined the characteristics of TOPIK speaking questions based on previous studies. In addition, the elements necessary for TOPIK speaking practice were reviewed by analyzing various functions of the metaverse platforms ‘Zepeto’, ‘iFland’, ‘Zep’ and ‘Spatial’, which are currently widely used in Korean language education. After organizing the metaverse platform that can be used for each question, the third question, ‘Talking with pictures’ was selected as an example and specifically suggested a utilization plan. By performing various practice tasks in the metaverse space, KFL learners will be given tasks similar to TOPIK speaking tests, so that they can become familiar with iBT test forms through practice of understanding and calculating language skills required to perform formal tests.
