Abstract
An assessment was made of growth dynamics, hematological parameters of peripheral blood and changes in the structure of intestinal and liver tissues of juvenile African catfish Clarias gariepinus when an aqueous extract from the marine brown alga Laminariocolax aecidioides was included in the feed. Shown that the addition of an algal extract at a concentration of 5 % led to a significant improvement in the growth performance of individuals, which was expressed in an increase in growth rate, a decrease in the feed ratio and an increase in the fatness of fish. According to the results of hematological and histological studies, the extract of L. aecidioides contributed to the modulation of fish immunity by increasing the content of granulocytes (basophils and neutrophils) in the blood, as well as activation of the secretory function of the intestine (thickening of the lamina propria) and the immune function of the intestinal mucosa (increase in the size of goblet cells and an increase in the occurrence of clusters of eosinophilic and interepithelial cells). At the same time, the algae additive from L. aecidioides had virtually no negative effect on the histological picture of fish liver.
