Abstract

This study aims to analyze the artistic value and characteristics inherent in Eunho Kim's initial sketches, seeking to re-evaluate these sketches which have traditionally been regarded merely as preliminary stages in the creation of completed works. The research proposes that initial sketches are not just steps in the production process but possess intrinsic artistic qualities and philosophical dimensions, making them independent works of art in their own right. Using qualitative analysis, the study focuses on Kim's initial sketches and his finalized works to elucidate the essential differences and interactions between these two forms of art. The findings suggest that Kim's initial sketches transcend their traditional role as precursors to finished pieces, offering valuable insights into the artist's creative process and enabling a deeper understanding of his original artistic vision, thereby establishing their worth as independent artworks.
