Abstract

In this paper, I have studied the correct understanding of hypnosis as an interventional means of treatment and healing, and on the other hand, the connection between Erickson's hypnosis and humanistic psychology in the aspect of realization of human potential. Erickson, by using the principle of hypnosis, conducted a holistic approach where the client is an existence who is interconnected with the body, community, and environment in the context of the conscious and unconscious. And Erickson utilized a transformative process, so-called, “Trance” in the process of self-expansion to find resources in the unconscious. Erickson saw the unconsciousness as a repository of human potential and creativity not a storeroom of the diseases. Erickson has a human-centered view where the problematic behavior is also each individual’s best option. Modern hypnosis is the human-centered approach acceptable to the people who have previously criticized hypnosis. In addition, hypnosis can be the important tool available to realize human potential in the point that it can help integrate the human body, mind, and soul.
