The article analyses the leading factors that contributed to the development of comparative pedagogical studies in the USA in the 1950s. These factors include: signing of the «Act on the National Science Foundation», the development of university education, opening of special departments of comparative pedagogy and issuing comparative pedagogical journals, setting up various scientific societies and organizations, and some others
