Abstract
Based on the population census and archival materials, the article examines the confessional diversity of the Saratov Volga region in the late 1920s – early 1940s. Orthodoxy prevailed in this territory, however, a characteristic feature of regional life has always been polyconfessionalism, due to historical and geopolitical factors. In the article, the author characterizes the confessional space of the Saratov Volga region and gives a quantitative ratio of various confessions.

Второе место по численности населения в регионе уверенно занимали немцы (11,62%). В Республике Немцев Поволжья они составляли свыше 66% населения. Почти все они проживали в правобережье Саратовской губернии. Среди них можно отметить переселившихся в Саратовское Поволжье в XIX – начале ХХ в. Поляков и белорусов (проживали в основном в городах), а также эстонцев и латышей (их села располагались на территории Республики Немцев Поволжья). Судить о нем можно на основании материалов общей переписи населения 1897 г. В Саратовском Поволжье свыше 3/4 населения являлись последователями Русской православной церкви. – АССР Немцев Поволжья), поэтому сведения о приверженцах западнохристианских конфессий Камышинского уезда, оказавшихся на.
