Abstract
The article continues the discussion of recent years regarding the constitutional ban on the establishment of state or mandatory ideology in Russia. History shows that the state ideology, which did not master the minds of people in an honest and open contest with other views and doctrines, but introduced from above, at a turning point surrendered its position without a fight and turned out to be unable to defend the values that it proclaimed. The author of the article notes the cyclical changes in the spiritual life of the country and reflects on what ideological principles are in demand today in the Russian legal system.
