Abstract

The purpose of the article is to supplement the overall picture of the history of photography and its ability to influence reality. Photography is by its very nature a technical art, but the sophisticated modern equipment is controlled by people. The question of what modern photography is gains ground due to the fact that, thanks to the introduction of completely new technology, the 21st century is witnessing the emergence of the alternative development of photography. The research methodology. The article traced the evolution of photography from the appearance of the first photographic images to the photographs of today. Particular attention was paid to the role of amateur and household photography in culture. It was revealed that these types of photography exert a strong influence on the position of photographic activity as a kind of art. Analyzing the content of these types of photography, it was stated that the photographs representing these very types of photography become the «mirror of reality». The scientific novelty of the work. Analyzing human behavior in the modern cultural environment, it can be assumed that a person immersed in the world of photographic images begins to act and identify themselves as an image. Conclusions. Trying to explore the evolution of modern photography, we cannot clearly define its role and reveal the mechanisms of the influence of photography upon society. This is explained by the fact that photography influences man and culture in its own way, which leads to heterogeneity in the formation of reality. Another trend is a deep immersion of photography into the Internet space. The spread of social networks, blogs and microblogging services made photography become a means of actualizing virtual reality or «real virtuality» in the space of everyday life.
