Abstract
A comprehensive sports competition hosted by the Chungbuk Sport Council, the Chungbuk Sports Festival is participated by 4,600 people from 11 cities and counties in the province. The festival has been held for three days in June each year since 1962. The purpose of this study is to derive policy importance and priorities for seven factors and 30 sub-factors to promote the Chungbuk Sports Festival. To this end, this study recruited a total of 20 on-site professionals and academic and research institute experts. The AHP technique was applied to a survey in order to perform a pairwise comparison between the factors. As a result of the study, the policy importance and priority of the upper items were higher in the order of the operation of the competition, scoring, budget support, stadiums, events, eligibility for athletes and executives, and participation and effects. The composite weights calculated based on the importance of the upper and lower items were higher in the order of fair judgement and award system, the maintenance of a comprehensive scoring system, the number of athletes and safety, budget for events, the improvement of events for students, and safety. It is required to classify policies that can be applied immediately and those urgent based on the study results and implement them first. The size and purpose of municipal sports events can change according to the trend of the times. Going forward, it is necessary to perform studies on a regular basis and conduct follow-up research on the sports events in advanced countries.
