Abstract

Due to significant socio-economic and political difficulties, the Central Chernozem region faced the problem of mass banditry in rural areas during the Civil War. Despite the end of war actions, the State, despite all the efforts of law enforcement agencies, only partially managed to fulfill the task of liquidating gangs. This article devoted the causes of the wave-like dynamics of banditry in the Central Chernozem region and the characteristic features of this type of criminal activity during the 1920 s.
