Abstract

This study was conducted to verify the effect of garden activity programs on emotional changes in the elderly who perceive depression and stress. Using the pre- and posteasurement design of the experimental and control groups, the garden activity programs were carried out twice a week, 3 hours per session, for a total of 16 sessions, from September 5 to October 31, 2022, The subjects of the study were 80 elderly people who were aware of depression and stress, and 37 people in the experimental group and 25 in the control group were finally analyzed, excluding 19 people who did not participate in the dropout and evaluation. Self-reporting psychological tests(anxiety, stress, loneliness, depression, mindfulness, life satisfaction, and vitality) were conducted in the experimental and control groups. As a result of the study, it can be said that the subject's mindfulness, life satisfaction, and vitality increased significantly, resulting in emotional stability after the garden activity program, and negative emotions decreased significantly.
