Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the experience and meaning of university students who participated in the mindfulness liberal arts class. The analysis was based on reflection notes and meditation experience journals submitted by 50 university students who participated in the mindfulness class opened as a liberal arts course at K University. Looking at the research results, first, university students experienced a paradigm shift in the perspective of acceptance and observation, not avoidance and response to the stress experienced in daily life. Second, as the internalization of introspection took place, they were sensitively aware of the inner changes and experienced self-care. Third, They experienced various senses that they did not normally experience. Fourth, the sense of connection with others increased and the sentiment of gratitude increased. This study is meaningful in that it presents the possibility and significance of mindfulness in higher education in the future through the process of designing mindfulness meditation as a subject in liberal arts education and analyzing learners' experiences.
