Abstract
Based on the analysis of the published material and new findings, the article for the first time presents a general characteristic of the Kiprinskii Borok archaeological site, defines its purpose as a temporary site for seasonal activities. The attempt to determine the legal status of the site has led to the conclusion that the uncertainty in the name, incorrect geographical attribution resulted in a negative situation when a non-existent subject is under state protection, while the site itself with a large number of different cultural and chronological complexes representing a cross-section of the ancient history of Altai from the Neolithic to the present, does not have the status of the monument of history and culture, and hence, it is not an object of law. Such a situation makes it difficult and, in some cases, impossible to carry out measures to ensure its protection. Proposals for correcting the current situation have been formulated.
