Abstract

This article analyzed learners' satisfactions with and needs for “Big Concept+”, a convergence liberal arts course at D University. To summarize the results of analysis, first of all, learners think of “writing” in “big concept”. After taking the class, they responded that the subject title of “Big Concept” was appropriate, but it transpired that they could not escape from the perception of “writing”. Second, students recognize discussion as a necessary and favorite activity in the class, which should be conducted in groups, but a method or atmosphere in which students can speak more freely should be created. Third, it was found that students preferred the subject of “capitalism” in both satisfactions and needs analysis of learners. Fourth, in the analysis of learners' satisfactions and needs for “lecture pairing” which is the final examination, there were negative opinions about it. The “lecture pairing” should therefore be modified or supplemented or changed to something else. It is possible to estimate what students think about this class and what they ask for through the results of this study.
