Abstract

This study aims to initiate a theoretical discussion on environmental sustainability practices in the live music industry. To achieve this, the study examined major trends and current situations, and reviewed practical cases from the United Kingdom, where “Julie's Bicycle”, “Glastonbury Festival” and “Coldplay” have taken a proactive approach to environmental sustainability. The research findings suggest the need for the establishment of a collaborative structure and policy support to collectively recognize and address climate change issues throughout the entire value chain of the live music industry, including supports for standardized criteria and green guidelines, research collaboration for data-driven on-site studies, and environmental expertise personnel.
