Abstract

Public arts Sculpture is regarded as a result of art activities, reflecting the purpose of cultural enjoyment and local environment. On the other hand, as sculpture located in outdoor environment damaged by various caused, an appropriate methods are needed. The aim of research is to consider the damage condition and conservation method of public arts sculpture in masan sculpture park. As a result of damage assessment, biological damage indicated 144%, chemical damage 736% and physical damage 96% because of complex pattern of damage condition such as biological form, vandalism, discoloration and metal corrosion. This damage presents the possibility of direct or indirect influences including change in the original form of a work and deterioration of aesthetic value and material durability. By doing this, organisms, metal corrosion, discoloration and physical damage could be minimized by cleaning and bonding in the process of conservation treatment. However, as the sculpture situated in the outdoor environment, not only a change in perception of conservation by citizen and manager, but also continuous monitoring and systematic management are required.
