Abstract

The objective of this research focuses on discussing the relationship between the integration of Eastern and Western narrative and music. This research It examines what traditional aesthetic ideas director Xiaogang Feng pursued, what music themes Dun Tan created according to the color stories of the main characters, and how the narrative and musical elements they highlighted were integrated and embodied across the boundaries of the East and the West. The movie The Banquet reborn as a Chinese Martial Arts story by the way of adapting Shakespeare's play Hamlet. Xiaogang Feng conveyed the emotions, desires, and psychological changes of the characters through the emphasis of three colors in the film: red, white, and black. Tandun's main music theme of “The Yue Folk's Song” with piano as the main instrument also led to the ethnic elements of Chinese tradition. He worked closely to recreate the desire for power, the solitude of characters in the film about unachievable love, and loneliness to the audience.
