Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of media literacy education on economic and social problems caused by climate change on the cognitive attitudes of international students pursuing academic goals. The findings reveal that while the learners were aware of the seriousness of the climate crisis, they lacked understanding of its links with unemployment, fossil fuel use, and meat consumption. In addition, there was a significant difference in perception of unemployment and climate problems depending on exposure to climate education. Media literacy education activities facilitated a shift in perception among learners, demonstrating that fossil fuels are the primary contributor to the climate crisis and cause substantial pollution during the processing, production, and sale of meat. The study highlights the need for education related to the climate crisis, particularly for international students pursuing academic goals, to develop specific action plans in order to address the issue.
