Abstract
One of the possible highly probable trajectories for the development of a modern socio-economic system lies in the emergence of a new industrial society of the second generation with a shift towards noonomy, a rationally and intelligently organized socioeconomic system for the future. One of the features of the trajectory of such a transition is a steady increase in the knowledge intensity of human activity, while the results of this activity (produced and consumed goods and services) become more knowledge-intensive. Therefore, knowledge transformation is necessary. In this study the author examines the role of modern universities for its implementation; it is shown that under the influence of the challenges posed by the socio-economic environment, universities must be transformed and further establish “entrepreneurial universities”. The paper identifies the prerequisites for such a transformation, its directions and possible consequences.
