Abstract

The divination reflected in a special form the expediency of human activity, which presupposes a forecast. However, in modern studies there is a limitation in understanding the essence of divination, due to its perception within the framework of the subject of specific sciences. As a result, the impossibility of explaining the divination patterns that arise in the course of its development. A partial solution to this problem can be the historical and socio-philosophical analysis of this phenomenon at the early stages of its development. This analysis shows that the pantheistic paradigm of tradition, implying the existence of an objective spiritual principle, which is primary in relation to the material world, had a decisive influence on the formation of the fortune-telling complex. This led to the idea of a person’s involvement in absolute truth, including in the form of a magical prediction. Analysis of the conditions for the formation of models of divination allows you to raise the quality of profile research in specific sciences.
