Abstract

This article briefly examines the results of astroarchaeological research conducted by the Sayano-Altai archaeological expedition of The State Hermitage Expedition on astroobjects in Tuva (since 1987), Altai (since 1991), Khakassia (since 1992) and Kazakhstan (since 1997). Astroarchaeology is a new scientific trend in Russia, which began to be developed only since in the 1980s. Synthesis of ancient astro-knowledge is mainly represented on elite and cult objects in different regions of the world. Huge sections of ancient knowledge - astronomy, mathematics, geography, which are often interrelated with each other, still remain poorly studied in modern archaeological research. This significantly impoverishes our understanding of the early stages of development of practical, sacred and scientific achievements of past eras.
