Abstract

Intertextuality is not only a condition for the existence of any verbal or nonverbal text, but also a tool for creative revision of «someone else’s» material. Intertextuality is one of the most important principles of the creative method for T. Shaov – not only in composition of a poetic text, but also in its musical design. The song compositions by T. Shaov, intonationally associated with academic classical music, are discussed in the article. Using the example of the quotations used, a typology of semantic functions is proposed: quotation-emblem, quotation-characteristic, quotation-subtext and quotationimage. The variety of compositional techniques of working with intertext is considered: from direct quoting to stylization, as well as from simple insertion of «someone else’s word» to careful «assimilation» of borrowed material.
