Abstract

The publication deals with the presentation of scientific archaeological knowledge in the space of the Museum of Local Lore. Archaeological collections are an important component of most collections of local history museums in Russia. Using the example of the Altai State Museum of Local Lore, the experience of implementing exhibition and cultural and educational projects related to the archaeology of Altai is demonstrated. The project “Secrets of Stone Vaults”, which combines not only the topic of archaeology, but also the natural and cultural heritage of the region as a whole, is cited as successful practices. In addition to presenting cave complexes as unique archaeological sites, the authors of the project touched upon issues of environmental protection, eco-tourism, speleology and paleontology. The experience of the region’s participation in the All-Russian action “Open Days of Archaeology” is given as cultural and educational events designed for a wide audience.
