Abstract

Methods for determining the strength of welded joints are considered. The welded joints are made by different types of welding and tested in laboratory conditions. Methods of inspection of welded joints are described. The method of destructive testing – tests for shear (rupture), separation and impact strength is selected. The test procedure is described. A laboratory experiment was conducted. The diagrams of destruction are given, the results of laboratory tests are compared with the permissible strength of welded points. The strength of the samples obtained with the help of electric rivets and with the help of contact spot welding exceeded the minimum permissible strength of the welded points of the joints. The considered method of determining the strength of welded joints makes it possible to make an optimal choice of the type of welding for car body repair.
