Abstract

One of the most important tasks facing the educational process in the field of design is the formation of project thinking among students. For over 100 years, the methodology developed in the famous design schools Bauhaus and VKhUTEMAS has been the basis for educating design thinking, graphic culture, and the use of formal composition principles. This paper describes the initial stage of an interuniversity project aimed at studying the state of teaching propaedeutics in design. The purpose of the project is to search for relevant forms of methodological heritage through the analysis of design propaedeutics programs taught in various universities, colleges, and children's design studios. The study is based on materials presented at the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Traditional and Innovative Methods of Teaching Propaedeutics in Design". The analysis identified the features and results of teaching design propaedeutics, which are based on methodological techniques developed in the Bauhaus and VKHUTEMAS. Thus, the study confirms the relevance and necessity of propaedeutics as a format for a comprehensive immersion in the study of compositional patterns that precedes the development of project thinking in the new educational and project realities. At the same time, each of the presented educational institutions has its own specific features in the course of propaedeutics.
