Abstract

The article actualizes design modernist principles of "good design" in the new operational, functional and semantic space of the meta-universe. The meta-universe is problematized and critically analyzed in the broad context of technological substitution, marketization, interoperability, and other socially significant phenomena of the real and digital environment. We have conducted a comparative analysis of the principles of good design by Dieter Rams and Adobe corp.; considered the current debate in science, experts and the public on the prospects of the meta-universe development, opportunities and risks associated with the design of competing with architecture; outlined urgent tasks to address problems and challenges in the selected problem area. Good design is considered as a key theoretical concept of contemporary (trendy) design, the required intellectual and humanitarian basis for conceptual management and the formation of aesthetic and ethical standards of the new socio-economic and cultural reality that the meta-universe opens
