Abstract

Low persistence rate is a deep-seated and major challenge of internet-based learning. Since dropout causes a loss to both learners and institutions, preventing dropout is top priority and, for this reason, investigating the dropout factors is inevitable. In order to investigate the effect of schedule management, study attitude, self-control, and self-efficacy on dropout, a survey of high school students has been conducted. As a result of t-test, learners’ responses to four factors showed significant differences between dropout group and completion group. Logistic regression analysis showed that learners seem not to drop out when they have selfcontrol on distractions and when they have high self-efficacy. Based on the results, learners should consider registering online classes and institutions should establish strategies to prevent dropout.
