Abstract

The study aims to reveal the functioning specifics of phraseological units in the English-language medical scientific text. The study is novel in that it is the first to analyse the use of phraseological collocations and their translation methods in the medical scientific text. The article reveals the most frequent cases of using set phrases, among which are phraseological units of terminological nature and phraseologised means of text cohesion. As a result, the study has identified such methods of translating phraseological terms as equivalent translation, analogue translation, loan translation, transliteration and descriptive translation. These methods make it possible to achieve adequate translation determined by a specific character of the medical scientific text.
