Abstract

The article examines theoretical and legal issues of police activity in providing assistance to persons in need of its protection from unlawful attacks («police assistance»). The need for additional study of this issue in the context of intensifying criminogenic risks for citizens and threats to public safety has been updated. The main approaches to defining the concept of «police assistance» are studied, its main features are highlighted, a conclusion is drawn about the administrative and legal nature of this type of police activity, the author’s definition of the term «police assistance» is proposed, and possible directions for further research on this topic are indicated
