Abstract

The article is devoted to the consideration of events in the Altai province in 1924 related to the perpetuation of the memory of V.I. Lenin. The sudden death of the Chairman ofthe Council of People's Commissars ofthe Soviet Union caused a great resonance in the society. From January 23 to January 27, 1924, a mourning week was declared in the USSR. On these days in all populated areas mourning activities were held. Great attention was paid these days to perpetuating the memory of the leader of the revolution. Cultural and educational institutions in the settlements of the province were named after Lenin. Citizens actively discussed the establishment of monuments. Death of V.I. Lenin was perceived as a great and irreparable loss for the state. These factors contributed to the development of a new form of agitation work, which was formed around the image of VI. Lenin as one of the ideologists of socialist construction.
