Abstract

The purpose of the study is to analyze the volun-tary assistant restorers movement. The authors consider the historical features of the development of the volunteer movement in the field of cultural heritage conservation in the USSR and modern Russia, as well as the signifi-cance of the work of the VOOPIK in this direc-tion. As a result, the authors note that to appeal to the experience of the formation of monuments protection volunteer practices in the 1960s-1980s allows to create a holistic view of the for-mation and development of voluntary work in this area, which is the necessary basis for an educa-tion of new generations of young volunteers who care about preserving Russian identity, as well as for improving the management of volunteer organizations.
