Abstract
The modern system of plastic waste management is characterized by a continuous increase in its volume as part of municipal solid waste (MSW), a significant part of which is placed in landfills, significantly worsening the environment. This is one of the problems being solved extremely slowly in the Russian Federation. The ongoing reform in the field of waste management has not yet brought the expected results. The article focuses on the tasks that need to be solved in order to create and implement modern technologies for handling plastic and its waste, based on the separate collection of plastic waste in the places of their formation. The article discusses the components of organizational and economic approaches to decision-making on the effective management of plastic waste in their relationship with information and digital technologies, the creation of regional centers for automated recording of the quality of the activities of regional operators and the functioning of infrastructure at each stage of the life cycle of the waste management sphere is proposed.
