Abstract

DOI:  https://doi.org/10.28925/2518-766X201611269 The article is devoted to the influence of the music performance competitions upon future music teachers’ creative development and professional competence. The role of competitions in the mapping specific trends of development of the modern music performance art is underlined and importance of the events accompanying the competitive activities (round tables, conferences, seminars, workshops etc.) is considered.Music performance art in the contemporary socio-cultural space is a system, which includes the following components: music performance (creativity, mastery, artistic communication), music education (performance school, teaching staff, educational institutions), concert practice (art projects, festivals, competitions).Music competition is a socio-cultural phenomenon of contemporary music process, the main form of presentation of the young musicians and modern performance art in general. It is characterized  by the presence of competitive component that requires an extremely high degree of mobilization of abilities and efforts of the participants. In these circumstances, the valuable attitude to music performance activities of the competitors appears. Participation in the music competitions and festivals promotes and enriches future music teacher’s performance experience and his professional growth. The competitions attract increasing number of participants and teachers into the competitive process, they are a nice addition to the educational process. The academic competitions of classical music assist to professional recognition of the winners, promote their concert performance, help in their further progression and cooperation with the orchestras. Most concert artists, world’s leading musicians and music teachers usually have the experience of numerous competitions behind. In Ukraine, the musical competitions popularize Ukrainian music, certify integration of Ukraine into a global cultural space.
