The effect of aluminium and copper as alloying additives on the high-temperature characteristics of zinc single crystals subjected to mechanical tension is presented. The influence of twinning and basal slide on the single crystal deformation, and the condition for «jerky flow» and prismatic slip occurence have been determined. A strong relation between the critical shearing stress, producing prismatic slip, and temperature and concentration of the alloying elements has been observed
