The engagement and working satisfaction of millennial lecturers during the covid-19 pandemic: Differences in gender identity perspectives

current situation, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, creates new lessons for all spectrums in all sectors, including the education sector. This requires lecturers to apply the concept of Work from Home (WFH) in facing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Lecturers are still needed to carry out remote teaching, write research reports, and still have to develop community service. From a gender identity perspective, this situation would probably be acceptable. Therefore, the aim of this research is to study the impact of engagement on millennial lecturers' job satisfaction which will be viewed from gender identity. This research is known to be quantitative in nature by surveying millennial lecturers throughout Indonesia. data analysis used descriptive methods and a multi-sample structural equation model (SEM). population in this study were 88,553 millennial lecturers. While the sample in this study is known to use the sampling technique with simple random sampling, so the sample used is 417 respondents. analysis technique used in this research is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with LISREL 8.8 software. Keterampilan Menulis Laporan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas Guru di Kecamatan Plered Purwakarta

<em>The teacher is an element that plays an important role in improving the quality of education in Indonesia. It is inevitable that there are various problems in learning that need to be solved by a teacher, one of them with research. Classroom Action Research is an attempt to correct any shortcomings and deficiencies in learning. Followed by writing a Classroom Action Research Report, carried out as an attempt to think and prove to improve the professionalism of teachers and is no less important as an added value in increasing credit. The aim of this study is to describe: teacher skills in writing Classroom Action Research reports and obstacles for teachers in writing scientific articles. This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive design. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the skills to write research reports in the classroom were still low and very rarely performed. The obstacles that the teacher encountered were the lack of understanding of scientific articles, little systematic writing knowledge, limited liability, problems with the use of computers and time. But of all that, the cause of the obstacles that the teacher encounters is motivation.</em>

Danish policymakers and research evidence in public health policy process

Abstract Background Evidence-informed policymaking in public health, understood as interaction of the best available research evidence and “other types of evidence”, is known to have sound influence on population well-being. However, lack of using and producing research evidence by public health policymakers has been well documented. The aim of this study was to assess policymakers’ research involvement in the research process as well as motivators and barriers for the use and production of research evidence. Methods A cross-sectional online survey was carried out in the period of Dec 2018 - Jan 2019 using a pre-tested, self-administrated questionnaire. Participants were Danish policymakers’ members of the Danish Society of Public Health (DSPH) and with practical experience being involved in a health policy-making process. The questionnaire was distributed through the DSPH members email list. Reported outcome variables; for this abstract are parts of the larger study: health policymakers’ research involvement in the last 12Mo; policymakers’ motivators and barriers to use and produce research in policy-making. Results Response rate: 100/480 (15%). 78% were involved in critical evaluation of research for policy-making; 77% were able to identify relevant research literature; 41% did not use research evidence; 40% did not conduct any surveys; 57% did not write research reports; 65% never used reference systems; 46% did not analyze any research data. The three motivators reported to use and produce research in the last 12Mo were: identification of the problem that needs to be addressed; development of research skills; and job satisfaction. The three main barriers were: other job-related priorities; lack of time for research; lack of research funding. Conclusions This study reinforced that public health policymakers need more practical knowledge and skills as well as organizational support and management to use and produce research evidence for evidence-informed policy-making. Key messages Successful evidence-informed policymaking requires capacity-building interventions targeting policymakers, supported, implemented and evaluated by their organizations. Policymakers do not dismiss evidence-informed policy practice, but their “positions” and conditions at a work place sometimes do not allow them to fully follow it.

Pelatihan Kegiatan Penelitian dan Penulisan Karya Ilmiah bagi Guru Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 3 Lombok Tengah

Training on Research Activities and Scientific Writing for Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 3 Lombok Tengah Teachers
 The purpose of this community service was to improve the ability of teachers to conduct research and publish a research article in a national scientific journal. This program was implemented through a series of activities using in-service training (IST) and on-service training (OST) methods. The andragogy approach was used in IST activities to improve the ability of teachers in analyzing the learning problems that can be raised as research problems; to convey the concept of research in general, especially classroom action research; and to write a scientific article. OST activities are intended to assist the teachers in conducting research activities, writing research reports and scientific articles and publishing scientific journals. The results of IST activities illustrated the situation of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 3 Lombok Tengah teachers that most teachers had been able to analyze problems that can be raised as the main problems in research activities; the teacher had a good understanding of the concept of classroom action research, design, instruments, and analysis of research data; the teacher was able to understand the concepts and techniques of writing research reports and scientific articles; and the teacher had been able to understand the concepts and techniques of publishing articles in national scientific journals. OST results indicated that teachers had the potential to develop themselves in conducting research and producing scientific papers. During the implementation of community service activities, the teacher consistently followed the activities well. The resulting scientific work could be categorized as good, and generally, met the criteria of scientific writing.

The Utilization Management of Path Analysis Methods to Improve Quality in Writing Research Reports at Higher Education

In writing a research report requires good management, starting from the start to the end pages must be neatly arranged in accordance with existing rules. In managing the research report method, a researcher can use a variety of methods available, tailored to what he studies. This study discusses the introduction of path analysis, the notion of path analysis, which is a method for studying the direct effects or indirect effects of hypothesized variables as the causes of the effects of variables needed in research, characteristics of path analysis and terms in path analysis . There are 2 (two) completion of path analysis, namely with simple correlation, completion of path analysis with linear regression. Literary research research methods were used in this study to add insight to researchers regarding writing management. With this research, it is expected to be able to help students who are compiling reports in higher education, and can improve the quality of management of research reports using path analysis methods.

The Optimization Management of Combination Research Methods in Improving the Quality of Writing Research Reports

Management in writing research reports is a crucial activity for a researcher who wants to publish his research results. The research method is a method used to get results and discussion of research. In this study, the research method was used to explain the characteristics of quantitative, combination and qualitative methods with as many as 12 (twelve) points, and literature studies on the definition of 4 (four). The core of this study discusses management of the philosophical foundation of combination research, the characteristics of quantitative, qualitative and combination methods. Then discussed also the definition of combination methods, the nature of the combination method, variations of combination methods, combination research methods models: combination model or sequential explanatory design, combination model or sequential exploratory design, combination model or concurrent triangulation design and model combination method or concurrent embedded design. By doing this research, it is hoped that it can add insight to the authors of research reports regarding the management of combination research methods.

INTRODUCTION OF AN ACTIVE LEARNING COMPONENT THROUGH RESEARCH REPORTS IN A LABORATORY COURSE

Abstract –Mechanical Engineering Laboratories is a third-year course at the University of Manitoba that covers the application of mechanical engineering principles to relevant experimental problems. The course spans two terms, counts for two credit hours per term and traditionally required student teams to prepare formal laboratory reports only.
 An active learning component was introduced by assigning students to write research reports on topics that would otherwise have been covered in the lectures. This allowed us to enable additional laboratory groups during former lecture slots and accommodate the program’s enrollment increase from 80 to 120 students. Introducing research reports also allowed students to learn independently, research beyond the level of detail in the course if they wished, and practice their lifelong learning skills along with teamwork skills.
 Most students did well in this component of the course. Student feedback comments on the research reports were mostly positive. This experience suggests that an active learning component through research reports in lieu of some lectures may be a useful active learning tool in an upper-level laboratory course.

Nowdays, One thing is often still a connection problem in the relationship between people and governments in the region is in the field of public services, especially in terms of quality or service quality of government officials to the public. This study aims to determine the dimensions of what drives performance and hinder the performance of employees in the District Margadana Tegal and to analyze and describe the performance of the Civil Service in the District Margadana Tegal. This study used a qualitative descriptive method Subdistrict Margadana locus and focus research on the performance of staff members. Instruments in this study is the researchers themselves, who act as planners, implementers in collecting data, analyzing, interpreting the data and writing research reports that assisted with the interview, the informant purposive sample selection techniques. Mechanical analysis is done through reduction, data presentation and conclusion by using taxonomic analysis. Based on the survey results revealed that the overall performance of employees is not good, there are still many things that need to be repaired it can be seen from many dimensions that hinder the performance of employees in the District Margadana. The dimensions that support the performance of employees in the District Margadana is the dimension of knowledge work, cooperation dimension, the dimension of personal qualities, while inhibiting dimension is the dimension of the quantity of work, dimensions quality of work, creativeness dimensions, the dimensions of dependability, and the dimensions of the initiative. Suggestions are presented in this study is the leader should implement the target time, and more emphasis to pay more attention to and comply with existing standards work system, the leader must be able to be more open so as to create conditions that can motivate subordinates and provide comfort to employees to submit ideas , there must be strict sanctions so that a deterrent effect, and requires the employee to make the planning work and individual work schedules.

KESULITAN-KESULITAN MAHASISWA PLS FIP UNP DALAM MENYUSUN SKRIPSI

This research was motivated by the difficulties experienced by students out of School Education ( PLS ) in the thesis . The purpose of this study is to describe the difficulties student writing his thesis in terms of aspects : ( 1 ) the guidance given faculty , ( 2 ) an understanding of research methodology course material , ( 3 ) writing research reports , and ( 4 ) the availability of facilities such as a book source This research is a descriptive study ekspost facto , which examined according to what the problems are experienced students while now . Population and once gus as the samples of this study were students who were writing his thesis on half July- December 2011. Data collection techniques and tools are questionnaires are questionnaires guidelines . Descriptive data were processed by a percentage formula . The study's findings describe : ( 1 ) students sometimes have difficulty writing his thesis in terms of faculty guidance , ( 2 ) students always have trouble writing his thesis in terms of understanding the course material research methodology , ( 3 ) students sometimes have difficulty writing his thesis on aspects writing research reports , and ( 4 ) students always have trouble writing his thesis in terms of aspects of the availability of facilities , especially the difficulty in understanding the sources of books in foreign languages ​​. Suggestions in this study so that students can increase their motivation to better understand the material research methodology , and the ability to understand the sources of books in foreign languages.

Study on Related Courses to Help Undergraduate Students Write Research Reports: A Curriculum Evaluation

From the experience of joining the boards in the students’ research report defence, teaching education research methodology, and classroom action research, the researcher indicated that students had challenges related with the logic of research methods and academic research writing. These findings encouraged the researcher to study the courses that have potential in helping students writing their research reports. To study the courses, the researcher analysed related documents, such as syllabi and lesson plans. The researcher also interviewed teachers and students to clarify the relevance of the syllabi and the classroom learning. The results of the study indicated that logic, academic writing, statistics, research methodology, and classroom action research had the potential of helping the students write their research report. The researcher also indicated that the content of the courses should have been more helpful. The fact, however, was that the students still had challenges understanding the materials after taking the courses. Further study about this fact is then recommended.

Writing publishable mixed research articles: Guidelines for emerging scholars in the health sciences and beyond

In recent years, it has become more common for health science researchers to conduct and to write research reports and articles that involve the combining or mixing of quantitative and qualitative approaches within the same study. The purpose of this article is to delineate the challenges of writing mixed research studies and present a potential solution. The solution includes providing guidelines for writing mixed research that will be presented utilizing the framework designed by Leech and Onwuegbuzie (2010). Furthermore, examples of each step from a published mixed research study (Onwuegbuzie et al., 2007) will be presented. It is hoped that understanding these challenges in writing mixed methods reports and using the suggested guidelines will increase health science researchers' ability to publish mixed methods research.

Commenting on research results in applied linguistics and education: A comparative genre-based investigation

As university students are frequently given the tasks of writing research reports to fulfil their respective programme requirements, teaching novice writers to present the results of their reports understandably constitutes an essential component of English lessons at tertiary level. While past research has shown that results are consistently commented on in the Discussion section in various disciplines, the degrees to which they are allowed in the Results section may vary across different disciplines and across research reports based on different research methods. Without a detailed investigation into such disciplinary and methodological differences, instructors and supervisors would find it difficult to inform novice writers about the permissibility and necessity to incorporate comments of different categories in the Results section. This mixed-method genre-based study used quantitative and qualitative techniques to (i) identify the extent to which disciplinary and methodological differences have a bearing on the frequencies of comments in the Results sections of research papers in applied linguistics and education, and (ii) investigate the various categories of comments in relation to their prominent linguistic mechanisms. The findings of this study can also help instructors design relevant teaching materials that illustrate how experienced writers link their comments with major categories of research results.

Action research in schools – an important factor in teachers’ professional development

Quality performance of the increasingly important professional role of the teacher requires a continued learning and professional growth of every individual. Action research represents one of the important factors in teachers’ professional development, in particular when it is designed as a collaborative process involving teachers and researchers. This dimension of cooperation has been developed as part of the project “Partnership between Faculties and Schools”, which also included an empirical study presented in this article. The survey has shown that among teachers, newcomers and experienced teachers are the most willing to participate in research work. Irrespective of the stage of their professional development, teachers are mainly prepared to be involved in introducing the findings and improvements into school practices, while communicating research results to wider public, preparing techniques and instruments for data collection and writing research reports rank among the least interesting activities for teachers’ involvement.

The article contains the conference given by professor Harry Wolcott in May 2003 in Medellín for the presentation of the second edition in Spanish of his book Writing Up Qualitative Research. He asks why is always the second chapter of a written report the ";Revision of Literature"; and could it be something else instead? He proposes for chapter two to be ";Linking Up"; of literature, theory and method as an alternative to the traditional literature review, on demand, as necessary, instead of treating this activities as independent exercises. With respect to literature review readers want to be engaged immediately with the problem being addressed. References are critical in helping to analyse and to situate the problem and the research in a broad context. Making the link to theory should be next, but until it is quite clear what is the research interest and how it relates to the report. Finally, linking up through method, what readers want to know is how data was obtained or what are the bases for making inferences. In this manner the researcher may inform the reader since the beginning with enough detail about the problem, its context, the theory it t articulates to and the method.Key words: qualitative research, writing research reports, report structure

Influencia de una intervención educativa basada en la escritura de informes de investigación sobre el aprendizaje conceptual y la transferencia de conocimiento a la interpretación de situaciones

En este trabajo se analiza, con alumnos de 4° de ESO, la influencia de la redacción de un informe de investigación en su aprendizaje conceptual y en su transferencia de conocimiento científico a la interpretación de una situación hipotética nueva, hallándose una mejoría significativa en la interpretación de la nueva situación. Mediante una metodología cualitativa se profundiza en el análisis del proceso de redacción de informes de investigación, hallándose evidencias que muestran que proporcionó a los estudiantes del estudio un contexto que favoreció el desarrollo de la capacidad de interpretar situaciones reales y que proporcionó diversos tipos de apoyo para el aprendizaje de los estudiantes.

The Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT)

The rules for reporting the results of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in published manuscripts have been elusive, and many nurse scientists have learned to write research reports by trial and error. New comprehensive guidelines for reporting RCTs are now available to authors, editors, and readers, a development that is likely to improve the quality of published reports. The Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) guidelines consist of two parts, a 22-item checklist and a flowchart template, that track the flow of all participants through the RCT. Currently, some journals, including Nursing Research, have adopted CONSORT and suggest or require its use in submitted manuscripts, but other journals do not. The CONSORT has potential to be useful beyond writing manuscripts. Because CONSORT is a comprehensive guide to essential elements of an RCT report, it also provides a useful guide for designing RCTs and writing funding proposals that include all the essential elements of a trial. It also could be a useful synopsis of important concepts when teaching research design to doctoral students. Reports of RCTs that use CONSORT are easier to read, interpret, and evaluate for relevancy to clinical practice. In addition, excellent reports of research increase the visibility of nursing research beyond our discipline. The CONSORT adds value to nursing research because researchers and readers alike will benefit if it is used more often.

Investigating the practices of student researchers: patterns of use and criteria for use of internet and library sources

For college writers, a key element of academic literacy is the ability to locate, select, evaluate, synthesize, and cite outside sources in their own writing. This study surveyed 543 college students to identify (a) their preferred criteria when evaluating Internet-based and library-based sources and (b) types of instruction students typically receive in evaluating those sources. Students writing research reports (63% of students) generally ranked most highly sources that were easy to use and easy to find, whether those sources were library-based or Internet-based ( r = 0.700, p < .01). Nearly 60% of all students received library training, which came most frequently from high school teachers. Nearly 29% of all students received Internet training, which came most frequently from student peers.
