Painting Lessons On Ceramic Plates For Grade VIII SLB-E Students At The Provincial Level Of North Sumatra

This research was motivated by class VIII SLB-E students who were less motivated to learn painting because the media used was less varied. Hence, students were less interested in painting. This research aims to assess the painting work of SLB-E students at the North Sumatra Province level based on four aspects: theme, technique, neatness and beauty. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques through demonstrations, practical tests, observation and documentation. The research sample consisted of 18 Deaf Grade VIII students. The target to be achieved in implementing painting learning is to increase motivation, creativity and students' interest in practising. The expected achievements in this research are the ability to express ideas according to the theme, master painting techniques with alternative media such as ceramic plates, and produce neat and beautiful work. The research results showed an average score of 86 (Very Good), with details: theme (82), technique (87), neatness (88), and beauty (85). In conclusion, students can use ceramic plates as media to apply these four aspects in painting.

Features of the representation of architectural space in the painting works of Giorgio de Chirico

This article describes the features of the depiction of architectural space in the paintings of the surrealist artist Giorgio de Chirico. In general terms, surrealism is described as an artistic style of the early twentieth century, its emergence, distinctive features and semantic tasks; The questions in relation to Giorgio de Chirico are examined in more detail: from what architectural objects and constituent elements is the urban space of his paintings formed, what objects are the main semantic parts, the general universal architectural model of the formation of such a space in de Chirico’s compositions is described. The article describes the semiotic structure used by the master, reveals the concept and meaning of the term “metaphysical painting”, ways of reading a surreal work of art, and the playful nature of the interaction between the artist and the viewer. The article analyzes in detail the methods and features of constructing the internal space of the metaphysical works of this master, showing the constituent elements, methods, techniques, and techniques for organizing the composition of the painting. The significance of the image of architectural space in de Chirico’s works on modern man and the use of his artistic experience in our time is described.

Analyzing Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains from a Pictorial Perspective

From the perspective of iconography, this paper presents an in-depth analysis of Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains, a classic work of traditional Chinese landscape painting. This work has been highly respected since the Tang Dynasty and is regarded as one of the important representatives in the history of Chinese painting. Its rich connotation and artistic value have always been the focus of scholars' research. The thesis aims to deeply interpret the historical and cultural connotations and artistic symbolism embedded in Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains through the iconographic method, from the levels of ex-iconography, iconography and iconographic analysis, to reveal its important position and value in Chinese traditional art. Adopting the iconographic method, the analysis is divided into three main levels. First, through pre-imaginative analysis, we focus on the physical facts and visual representations on the surface of the work; second, we use imaginative analysis to explore the information of the specific objects in the work and explore their connections and themes; and finally, we carry out imaginative analysis to reveal the deeper historical and cultural connotations and symbolic meanings of the work. Through in-depth iconographic analysis, Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains demonstrates the core values of traditional Chinese landscape painting, presenting a fusion of natural landscapes and humanistic emotions. It is not only a work of art, but also a vivid expression of traditional Chinese culture and aesthetics. The findings of this dissertation will contribute to a better understanding of the profound historical and cultural connotations embedded in Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains, as well as its important position and value in the history of Chinese art.

Training on MSME’s Development Strategies in Wooden Painting Crafts (study case Bloomy Wooden Art)

The variety of works of painting in each region creates high competition between one painter and another in marketing their products. Considering that in the 2000s, the development of the 'fine arts market' in Indonesia experienced very rapid growth, especially in the achievement of works and products. Bloomy Wooden Art is a company (home industry) which operates in the field of painting crafts using wood media which has been shaped into wall decorations, multi-purpose boxes, tissue boxes, trays, glasses, bowls, decorative tables, etc. The painting arts highlighted here are naturalistic such as flowers, fruit and natural beauty along with elements and animals. The aim of the service is to implement the strategy for developing wood painting craft MSMEs in West Jakarta. The method of implementing service is in 3 (three) stages, namely the preparation stage, implementation stage and evaluation stage. Theory in evaluation uses SWOT analysis to determine weaknesses, strengths, threats and opportunities. Based on the results of initial observations, Bloomy Wooden Art painting MSMEs are generally running well, but there are still shortcomings in terms of marketing aspects of wooden painting products using the social media Instagram which are not optimal, the availability of raw materials and supporting equipment and knowledge in the field of marketing.

Alexander Maksimovich Kolchin as a Church Artist of the Classical Era

New Age church art is one of the most dynamically developing areas of contemporary Russian art history. The constant process of reconstruction and restoration of churches requires a scientific approach and documentary substantiation. The artistic merits of church art in the Classical era are highly appreciated by specialists, but biographies of masters of mural painting and iconography are rarely published and are little known. The study of biographies and works of painters who devoted themselves entirely to temple decoration is important for compiling an objective picture of Russian culture of the 19th century.Alexander Maximovich Kolchin (1812-1866) was born and grew up in Yaroslavl, was on the staff of the bishop’s house masters, received the title of a non-class artist at the Imperial Academy of Arts (Academy of Arts) in St. Petersburg, worked in six rural and several urban churches in Yaroslavl province, renewed murals in Vologda and painted a new church in Kashin, Tver province. In this article for the first time all available information about the painter, scattered in different editions, is brought together; new archival documents are published and the artist’s work is analyzed in the context of classicism stylistics. Documents from the personal file of A.M. Kolchin from the Russian State Historical Archive are introduced into the scientific turnover, which inform that the master painted portraits from life, the whereabouts of which are still unknown. Although there are few surviving works by A.M. Kolchin, they demonstrate the high skill of the painter, which was documented by the exacting council of the Academy of Arts in 1853. A.M. Kolchin was distinguished by his knowledge of Old Russian sources of church art and full awareness of its theological and liturgical meaning; his fluent mastery of the basics of academic drawing and masterly ability to combine mural painting with architectural forms; a wide range of subject compositions and depictions of individual figures.The article allows to expand the corpus of information about the artist and his works, and this publication will serve as a basis for further research.

Manifestations of War in the Works of the Artist Muhammad Mahraldin

This research is concerned with studying (Manifestations of war in the works of the artist Muhammad Mahraldin). It is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is to state the problem of the research that is represented by the question (Are there effects of war on the drawings of the artist (Muhammad Mahraldin)? And how did he depict Manifestations of war in his painted works?) and its importance and need for it. Then identifying the goal of the research in (revealing Manifestations of war in the works of the artist Muhammad Mahraldin), followed by establishing the boundaries (temporal, spatial, and thematic), and then the terms related to the title. The second chapter identified two substantive sections within the theoretical framework, according to what reading the research requires, is as follows (the first topic: embodiment of war and its manifestations in Iraqi art, the second topic: the embodiment of Manifestations of war in Iraqi art). The third chapter is devoted to research procedures, by clarifying the studies society, and the chosen sample (4 samples), the observational analysis tool, and identifying its methodology, and analyzing the sample. It becomes clear that the artist Mahraldin was influenced by the products of the wars that took place in Iraq and the pressures they represented on the artists.

The Application of Traditional Technology and Modern Concept in the Restoration and Protection of Calligraphy and Painting

In recent years, with the development of science and technology, painting and calligraphy mounting technology has added more and more modern science and technology. Under such a background, painting and calligraphy restoration work combines modern concepts and modern technologies, while traditional restoration and protection technologies also occupy an important position. The concept of "repairing the old as the old" has become the key principle in painting and calligraphy restoration work, but after restoration, the state of painting and calligraphy will also be affected. At present, the impact of its effect on the subsequent protection of calligraphy and painting remains controversial, especially the introduction of modern restoration technology in the work of painting and calligraphy mounting puts forward a new proposition for the restoration and protection of traditional painting and calligraphy. Based on this, the article analyzes the application of traditional technology and modern concepts in the restoration and protection of calligraphy and painting, with a view to bringing inspiration to relevant practitioners.

The Influence of Jianjiang on Modern and Contemporary Landscape Painting

Jianjiang is a pioneering landscape painter in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty. His works are austere, cool, dry and quiet. Jianjiang learned from tradition and nature, combined with his own emotional personality, formed a unique painting language and artistic outlook. The formal language in Jianjiang landscape painting works is rich, and the schema presented is unique. Jianjiang's painting art has been around for hundreds of years. When reading Jianjiang's works, people still feel a strong sense of form and times. His distinctive painting language and spiritual connotation have a very profound influence on future generations of painters.

High-resolution compound-specific mapping in works of art via data fusion of MA-XRPD with hyperspectral data (part 1: Method evaluation)

BackgroundHyperspectral imaging techniques have emerged as powerful tools for non-invasive investigation of artworks. This paper employs either reflectance imaging spectroscopy (RIS) or macroscopic X-ray fluorescence (MA-XRF) imaging in combination with macroscopic X-ray powder diffraction (MA-XRPD) for state-of-the-art chemical imaging of painted cultural heritage artefacts. While RIS can provide molecular information and MA-XRF can offer elemental distribution maps of paintings of high lateral resolution, the unique advantage of MA-XRPD lies in its ability to visualize the distributions of specific pigments and estimate in a quantitative manner the relative concentrations of the crystalline phases at the surface of artworks. However, MA-XRPD is more time-consuming and offers a lower lateral resolution than RIS and MA-XRF. ResultsThis study introduces a machine learning (ML) approach to obtain the distribution of specific compounds on the surface of artworks with a resolution that is comparable to that of RIS and MA-XRF data but with the compound specificity of MA-XRPD. The general aim is to expedite non-destructive artwork imaging analysis by fusing data from different imaging modalities via machine learning models. The effect of preprocessing techniques to enhance the predictive accuracy of the models is explored. The paper demonstrates the method's efficacy on a 16th-century illuminated manuscript, showcasing the feasibility of predicting compound-specific distribution maps. Three evaluation methods—visual examination of the predicted distribution, root mean square errors (RMSE), and feature permutation importance (FPI)—are employed to assess model performance. Fusing MA-XRF with MA-XRPD led to the best RMSE scores overall. However, fusing the RIS and MA-XRPD data blocks also yield very satisfactory and easily interpretable high-resolution compound maps. SignificanceWhile MA-XRPD allows for highly specific imaging of artworks, its time-consuming nature and limited resolution presents a bottleneck during non-invasive imaging of painted works of art. By integrating data from more time-efficient hyperspectral techniques such as MA-XRF and RIS, and employing machine learning, we expedite the process without compromising accuracy. The fusion process can also denoise the distribution maps, improving their readability for heritage professionals and art historical scholars.

Relationship between benzene concentration, MDA levels and kidney function in car painting workshops in Surabaya: A cross-sectional observational study

Background Car painting workers are at risk because of the use of solvents containing benzene as the main ingredient in the car painting process. One of the clinical effects of systemic benzene is kidney disorders. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between benzene and Risk Quotient (RQ) benzene concentrations with Malondialdehyde (MDA), Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), and creatinine levels in workers exposed to benzene in car painting workshops in Surabaya. Methods This study used an observational design with a cross-sectional method conducted at two car paint workshops in Surabaya. The study population was all workers exposed to benzene in the two car paint workshops, aged between 20-65 years in 2019. The sample was taken using an accidental sampling method, involving 30 respondents. Inclusion criteria included workers exposed to benzene and willing to participate, while exclusion criteria included workers with a liver or kidney disease history. The variables studied included benzene concentration, benzene RQ (benzene metabolite), malondialdehyde (MDA) levels as a marker of oxidative stress, and indicators of kidney function (BUN and creatinine levels). Data were analyzed using descriptive and bivariate analysis with Pearson correlation test. Results There was no significant relationship between concentrations, RQ benzene, and MDA levels in workers in painting in Surabaya (p> 0.05). There was no significant relationship between benzene concentration, BUN levels, and creatinine levels in paint workers in Surabaya (p> 0.05). There was no significant relationship between benzene RQ and BUN and creatinine levels in paint workers in Surabaya (p> 0.05). Conclusions This study's results indicate that benzene's effects do not lead to impaired kidney function. The benzene RQ variable in this study did not become a determining factor in BUN and creatinine levels in workers.

Moscow artist Vladimir Salnikov, who would have been 75 in 2023, had a reputation of a remarkably versatile artist known not only for his works in easel painting and graphic art but also as a book designer and illustrator. From the early 1980s he had actively worked with such major publishing houses as Khudozhestvennaya Literatura (Literary Fiction), Sovetsky Pisatel (Soviet Writer), Detskaya Literatura (Children’s Literature), Progress, Kniga (Book), Malysh (Tiny Tot), to name a few. All in all, he had designed and illustrated some twenty books by Russian and foreign authors, including Saltykov-Schedrin, Mayakovsky, Beranger, Neruda, and many more. Salnikov’s illustrations are invariably distinguished for their high craftsmanship, inventive use of the entire range of monochrome and colorful techniques, a fine sense of visual art styles, and a deep perception of the literary text.

Health and Safety Education for Painting Workers in Small Companies to Make Them Aware That Paint Is "Dangerous and Harmful".

Workers in painting companies may be unaware that the paints they handle have adverse health effects. The present study explored the factors associated with workers' perception of paints as "dangerous and harmful". A questionnaire survey and interviews were conducted with workers engaged in painting operations in small-sized painting companies (fewer than 50 employees) in northern Kyushu and Yamaguchi prefectures. Safety and health education methods making workers perceive paint as "dangerous and harmful" were clarified. Fisher's exact test and logistic regression analysis were used for the survey and hierarchical cluster analysis for the interviews. The factor "Hazard prediction activity (KY Activity)", gender, and job position were identified as factors that make workers perceive paint as "dangerous and harmful". Based on the interview results, "KY Activity" was a keyword and a standardized safety and health activity. Before work, workers gather in a small group to discuss the dangers and hazards of paint, share information, establish action goals, and confirm safety measures. The questionnaire identified "KY Activity" as a factor influencing the workers' perception of paint as "dangerous and harmful". "KY Activity," also extracted from the interviews, is an effective health and safety education method for teaching workers in small-sized painting companies that paint is "dangerous and harmful".

Development of Glaze Compositions to Increase the Durability of Decorative Paints Used in Glazed Porcelain

Colorful paint works are carried out to highlight the visuality of ornamental and tableware products, such as cups and plates. As these products come into contact with detergents, food products or grime, erosion and abrasion occur in paint and patterns over time. In this study, transparent glaze compositions that can be applied on patterned products have been developed in order to minimize wear and damage to the paint on ornamental and tableware products such as porcelain cups and plates. It is aimed to have a compatibility with the glaze layer and the porcelain body, to have high transparency and brightness. Different glaze compositions have been implemented to porcelain wares containing precious metallic paints. Then the glazed products were coducted to final firing between 870˚C-900˚C. Colours values of porcelain wares were determined with L-a-b spectrophotometer colours measurment devices and ΔE values was found to be lower than 0.50. Erosion and abrasion resistance were determined by staining test and washing test. According the results, the mass loss values are in the range of 2.7-3.4 mg (24h washing) and 7.9-8.3 mg (168 h washing). The morphology of the samples and the analysis of the phases formed during sintering were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique and scanning electron miscroscopy (SEM and EDX). Quartz-SiO2 and Albite-Na (AlSi3O8) phases were observed in the structure of the glazes. The results showed that glaze compositions with high transparency and wear resistance can be obtained with only 30% frit content.

Impact of Heavy Metal Pollution on Oxidized Low-density Lipoprotein Levels among Car Maintenance Workshop Workers

This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between heavy metal pollution and oxidized low-density lipoprotein (OxLDL) among workers in car maintenance workshops in Baghdad, Iraq. Blood samples were collected from 70 male workers, including car maintenance and vehicle painting workers, along with a control group of healthy males. The levels of heavy metals, specifically cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb), as well as OxLDL and the marker of lipid peroxidation, malondialdehyde (MDA), were measured. The results revealed a significant increase in the level of Pb in the blood of workers compared to the control group, whereas Cd levels did not exhibit a significant difference. Furthermore, both groups of workers exhibited significantly elevated levels of OxLDL compared to the control group. Additionally, the MDA level was significantly increased across all the study groups. Correlation analysis demonstrated positive associations between OxLDL levels and the extent of Pb and Cd pollution in the car maintenance worker group. These findings indicate an increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) among workers in car maintenance workshops due to exposure to heavy metals. The observed elevation in the levels of OxLDL and lipid peroxidation markers underscores the potential health issues associated with occupational exposure to these polluted environments.

Towards FAIR Data Management in Heritage Science Research: Updates and Progress on the INFRA-ART Spectral Library

The heritage science sector is facing a critical need for accessible and comprehensive data resources to facilitate research, preservation efforts, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The concept of FAIR data management involves embracing principles and practices that ensure that data are Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. This work presents an overview of the latest updates on the INFRA-ART Spectral Library, an open access spectral database of cultural-heritage-related materials that was designed as a digital support tool for heritage research specialists that work with (portable) non- or minimally invasive spectroscopic techniques such as X-ray fluorescence (XRF), attenuated total reflectance–Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy, or Raman spectroscopy, among others. The database is an ongoing compilation of high-quality curated data that currently incorporates primary ATR-FTIR and XRF spectra and a preliminary dataset of Raman and short-wave infrared (SWIR) reflectance spectra on over 900 different materials typically found in painted works of art. For increased and sustainable accessibility, the database follows the European Commission’s recommendations on access to scientific information, as well as the FAIR guiding principles on research data that result from publicly funded research. The INFRA-ART Spectral Library is registered as a resource within the Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Portal and is among the services offered by the Romanian hub within E-RIHS (European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science) DIGILAB.

Identifikasi Bahaya Proses Blasting dan Painting di Perusahaan Fabrikasi Menggunakan Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)

The risk of accidents and occupational diseases is difficult to avoid, one of which is in fabrication companies because workers are in direct contact with objects and heavy equipment during work. One of the work areas that is at high risk of accidents and occupational diseases is the blasting and painting area. The objectives of this study are: (1) to identify potential hazards and possible risks (2) to control the risks of each process activity to ensure that the work is in a safe condition. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach method with risk analysis using job hazard analysis. The results of the study identified 52 potential hazards and risks with 9 types of hazards, namely psychological hazards, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, fire hazards, blasting hazards, physical hazards, chemical hazards, biological hazards, and ergonomic hazards derived from 7 classifications of processes or work stages in the blasting and painting work area. Prevention and control efforts are carried out to reduce the risk as a whole by using a hierarchy of control.

Canggu's Batu Mejan Beach As A Source Of Inspiration For The Creation Of Painting Works

The author discusses the history and atmosphere that the author experienced when creating the work as inspiration for painting. This topic was chosen as a means of conveying to the public what the history and atmosphere of Batu Mejan Beach is like and how the author created it in a work of painting. Creation of works is carried out through the steps of research, creation and presentation of art. This research is qualitative in nature by collecting data through journals related to Batu Mejan Beach. The method used is the Hawkins creation method, namely: idea exploration, improvisation/experimentation and realization. The originality of the work is carried out by the author from the basis of the emergence of an idea to the creation of a work of art using the visual source of coral rocks at Batu Mejan Beach and the addition of objects that have meaning/symbols. The visualization of the work emphasizes the elements of the idea and the techniques in which it is developed, accompanied by a spirit of taste that is built to give an aesthetic impression through the presentation of forms, as well as concepts that are used as references in each work. The result of the creation is a form of visualization of a painting by emphasizing the elements and principles of painting. The creation of this painting work is entitled "Canggu's Batu Mejan Beach as a Source of Inspiration for the Creation of Painting Works" with the output being a final thesis work and six works of painting art. Using palette techniques and acrylic paint materials with an expressionist flow.

Overcoming The Feeling Of Insecure As An Idea In The Creation Of Painting Art

Insecurity is a feeling of discomfort or fear that is triggered by a feeling of dissatisfaction and uncertainty about one's capacities. Insecurity is a common problem that often occurs among society, especially today's young people, if it is not addressed it can disrupt productivity in living life, a lack of understanding and knowledge regarding insecurity and how to overcome this condition often causes this insecurity to be a taboo matter. The aim to be achieved in the creation of this work is to understand the efforts that can be made to overcome feelings of insecurity in the perspective of packaging the embodiment of a work of painting. The author will visualize the efforts to overcome this feeling of insecurity using a visual analogy approach in the meaning of a message that will be expressed as a work of painting. In its development, the author formulated several things, various efforts to overcome feelings of insecurity and a visual analogy approach technique in expressing expressions of efforts to overcome feelings of insecurity.

“Gelungan” Characters of Kamasan Puppet in the Magala-Gala Tradition Game

Feudalism, which is a social or political system that gives great power to the nobility, in Indonesia, especially in Bali, still adheres to this system, where in literature and in traces of discourse it is stated that this system was already in effect at that time. However, apart from the Feudal system, Indonesia, especially Bali, has many existing traditions, such as the art of wayang kamasan painting and also Ma-gala-galaan or Gala-gala. The techniques used in the process of creating works of painting are the Dussel and Sigar techniques and how to visualize them on plywood media. The method used in the creation process is Hawkins, which consists of three stages, namely idea exploration, improvisation, and realization or forming.The result of this method is to search for ideas and how to visualize the concept of the Gelungan Wayang Kamasan character on plywood media. Improvise to find harmonious proportions and colors. The manifestation (forming) of all visual results found related to the title adopted is undergoing development. With the creation of this work, it is hoped that it will be useful for the community related to this state system and also about traditional painting and traditional games in Bali.

The Impact Of Deforestation As An Idea In The Creation Of Painting

This thesis contains a description of the creation of a work of painting with the theme "The Impact of Deforestation as an Idea in The Creation of Painting" which was inspired by reading a book which reminded the author of his visit to Kalimantan. This will discuss the impact of deforestation in Indonesia. Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country in the world, with its vast territory, Indonesia is known for its very diverse cultural, ethnic and natural riches, and as the Lungs of the World. However, the serious problem currently facing Indonesia is deforestation. Deforestation is the activity of cutting down forests where the land is converted for non-forest use. This change in forest land causes disruption of environmental conditions such as natural disasters, extinction of flora and fauna, global warming and climate change. The aim to be achieved in creating this work is to understand the impact of deforestation in Indonesia through creativity and imagination in the form of paintings using various techniques, media, considering the elements and principles of fine art. From the theme above, there are 6 (six) works that can be realized from the impact of deforestation which can provide an overview of the impact of deforestation in Indonesia.
