Occurrences Status of Biota in Gochang-gun, South Korea

The Gochang-gun biotope map was used as a benchmarking model when preparing a county unit in the future, and was prepared for the purpose of constructing detailed spatial data for eco-friendly urban management and efficient management and value improvement of cultural assets. The purpose of this study is to provide data so that it is used as basic data for the distribution status of animals and plants and the systematic management of endangered wild animals. As a result of the survey of animals and plants in Gochang-gun, a total of 255 species of 88 families and 184 genera appeared. A total of eight families and 14 species of mammals appeared. A total of 32 families and 52 species of birds appeared. A total of nine and 26 species of fish appeared, and five species endemic to Korea appeared. Six and seven species of amphibians and reptiles appeared, respectively, and one species of exotic specices appeared. A total of 26 species of benthic large-scale vertebrates appeared, and three species endemic to Korea appeared. As for endangered wild creatures, two species of plants, six species of birds and three species of mammals appeared. It is judged that the data on animals and plants based on the urban ecological status map of Gochang-gun can be used as basic data for environmental policy decisions such as the management of ecosystem disturbances in Gochang-gun, the protection of endangered wild creatures, and the protection and restoration of plant and plant habitats.

The desert represents a profound textual space in the writings of the Omani poet, Saif Al Rahbi. The imposing presence in Arabic literature of this Omani poet, with origins deeply rooted in the desert and its quick sands, is owed to his unique poetic style. Various linguistic formulations and visual contradictions, combined with the poet’s internal rhythm of emotions, create composites of personal visions that coalesce to furnish the text with endless structural, decorative, visual and mental possibilities, paving the way for a connection between the text and its reader. As for the forest, its cruel presence in the text is felt mainly through its various wild creatures. This study is an attempt to trace the image of the desert and the forest in Saif Al Rahbi’s poetry by identifying its distinct linguistic properties and artistic formulations.

Collision Avoidance Systems for Vehicle Safety Using Ultrasonic Distance Sensing Eye Blink Sensor and Alcohol Detector

Car wrecks are increasingly seen as a major safety issue; damage and fatality reports from these collisions are frequent. There are also more pedestrians who are killed by automobile accidents in cities and on highways. Additionally, autonomous cars often kill wild creatures that go farther into nature reserves. One cannot put a figure on the cost of a life, yet auto accidents hurt assets. This study looks at the creation and use of a complete collision avoidance system with the goal of improving vehicle safety by using cutting-edge technology. The suggested system includes an alcohol detector to stop accidents caused by intoxicated driving, an eye blink sensor to identify driver weariness, and an ultrasonic distance sensor to enable automated braking and collision avoidance. These sensors are seamlessly integrated to identify possible traffic dangers and initiate necessary reactions, all without depending on driver participation, thanks to the use of Arduino microcontrollers. The system design, methodology, and experimental findings are discussed in the study, which also shows how successful this integrated approach is at reducing road accidents. This study advances the global objective of increasing road safety by democratizing access to cutting-edge safety features that were previously only available in expensive cars.

Sound-based animal recognition model

Conservation of biological and biological diversity is the goal of joint efforts worldwide, and protecting wild creatures requires various monitoring equipment with identification capabilities. In this case, this article will introduce a model with animal call recognition ability designed using edge impulse. A two-layers convolutional neural network (CNN) is selected and trained with the input features generated by Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient, Spectrogram and Mel-Spectrogram. The model hoped not only to focus on the recognition accuracy rate of the model but also on the inferencing time, peak RAM usage and other performance to cope with the poor performance of the tiny equipment used in the real wild. Using five classes consisting of over 4,000 audio samples as the input and after several round experiments. Finally, the MFCC&CNN model is chosen because it has an accuracy rate of over 85.6%, the swiftest inferencing time and the lowest peak RAM usage.

Fish as a Resource and a Curiosity in International Exhibitions at the End of the Nineteenth Century

Abstract Fish and other water edible animals are the most numerous wild creatures that still are perceived as natural resource. Their individuality in perception by humans is mostly not recognised. In this paper I would like to discuss how fish were displayed and perceived at the World Fairs and specialised Fisheries Exhibitions that were quite numerous between 1880 and the beginning of the First World War. Among them the Great International Fisheries Exhibition in London in 1883 was the most significant and abundant and provided much material that remains not well studied by historians. Many fishing nations provided booklets and other materials for the exhibitions; the reception of the displays was discussed in scientific and popular publications and public media that included also visual materials. Why did fish become the object of such interest to the general public? What kind of stories were different nations and regions trying to tell through these displays and publications? How did fish link and divide people, especially the experts? Fisheries, as a sector of the economy, united archaic technologies and culture with the call for progress and modernisation. In addition, interest was concentrated around animals from whom humans felt removed at a large distance but who mystified them by their diversity in shape, colours, movement and, finally, taste.

Health implications of the built environment: lessons for an evidence-based design

The purpose of the built environment had always been focused on protection from external hostilities (wild creatures, worse climatic conditions, etc.) and internal comfort. Recent studies suggest another spectrum regarding the physical and psychological implications of the built environment. As a specialised and crossed-disciplinary research area, the results are less than often conveyed and incorporated in the planning design practice. This research aims to develop a comprehensive base about the implications of the built environment for incorporation in future planning and design. The evidence-based design approach was used based on the extraction and analysis of published research from JSTOR, Google Scholar, PubMed, and Scopus through single and combined keyword searches, like the evidence-based design; architecture and health; impacts of layouts; social capital; healing environment; stress reduction; social support; views of nature; daylighting; urban planning and health etc. The data was analysed for different levels of evidence, and only those studies having excellent, good, and fair levels of evidence were included. The results were broadly categorised into two levels: the macro-level (urban and regional planning) and the micro-level (architectural level). The results of this study may improve the existing and future planning and design.

Bear Maul Injury among Patients Presenting to the Department of Surgery in a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.

Bears are robust and agile wild creatures that can potentially inflict injuries. Black bears (Ursus thibetanus) are an inhabitant of the mountainous part of Nepal. Encounters between humans and bears generally occur in the bear-prevalent areas of Nepal and the world inflicting complex categorical injuries. The aim of the study was to find the prevalence of bear maul injury among patients presenting to the Department of Surgery in a tertiary care centre. A descriptive cross-sectional study was done in the Department of Surgery in a tertiary care centre from 1 August 2017 to 1 September 2022. Data was collected from the records of the Department of Surgery after receiving ethical approval from the Institutional Review Committee (Reference number: 078/79/38). The collected data included time of arrival in the hospital, type of bear, types of laceration, wound type, and demographic of patients. Convenience sampling method was used. Point estimate and 95% Confidence Interval were calculated. Among 2980 patients presenting to the Department of Surgery, the prevalence of bear maul injury was 15 (0.50%) (0.25-0.75, 95% Confidence Interval). Of which, all had laceration injury, with the face and scalp 9 (60%) being the highest injured site. Autumn was the season attacked most in daytime. Smart Farming Application for Protecting Animal Intrusion Using AI

Abstract: Agriculture automation has been on the rise using, among others, Deep Neural Networks (DNN) and IoT for the development and deployment of numerous controlling, monitoring and shadowing operation at a fine-granulated position. In this fleetly evolving scenario, managing the relationship with the rudiments external to the farming ecosystem, similar as wildlife, is a applicable open issue. One of the main concerns of present cultivators is guarding crops from wild creatures’ attacks. There are different traditional approaches to address this problem which can be murderous (e.g., shooting, trapping) and non-lethal (e.g., scarecrow, chemical repellents, organic substances, mesh, or electric walls). Nonetheless, some of the traditional styles have environmental pollution effects on both humans and ungulates, while others are veritably precious with high conservation costs, with limited trustability and limited effectiveness. In this project, we develop a system, that combines AI Computer Vision using DCNN for detecting and recognizing animal species, and specific ultrasound emigration (i.e., different for each species) for repelling them. The edge computing device activates the camera, and executes its DCNN software to determine the target, and once the animal is detected, it sends back a communication to the Animal Repelling Module including the type of ultrasound to be generated for the specific division of the animal.

The points where human needs and those of wild creatures collide In the Ajara tehsil, located in the southern part of the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. However, no comprehensive research on man-wildlife conflict in these villages has yet been conducted. As a result, the current study aimed to identify the numerous wild creatures involved in violence in the region's forest settlements. The study discovered that three conflict animals were most typically related to the problem in these villages.

Becoming Animal of Philosophy: Pragmatism, Pragrammatology, Speculative Pragmatism

I argue that American pragmatism can be understood as an effort to recuperate a sense of the animality of thought and thus as an example of what Deleuze and Guattari call a “becoming animal” within the field of philosophy. At issue in this becoming animal of pragmatism is the influence of Charles Peirce’s theory of abduction on the history of pragmatism from its origins to its more recent reception within Jacques Derrida’s (pra)grammatology and Brian Massumi’s speculative pragmatism. Predicated on the evolutionary notion that animal instinct is the source of language, thought, and inquiry, Peirce’s theory of creative inference, or “abduction” as he called it, has allowed generations of pragmatists to begin “shaking philosophy’s dust off their feet and following the call of the wild” (James); to recognize in the origin of their thought something like “the movements of a wild creature toward its goal” (Dewey); to define intellectual inquiry as “doing what comes naturally” (Fish), and to pursue such inquiry “without method” (Rorty). Emerging under the ostensible heading of a new “humanism”, pragmatism exceeds what Derrida calls “the anthropological limit” from the very start, relieving humanism of its exclusive claim to logocentrism by reinscribing the question if not the origin of the logos within the animal kingdom. A Brief Review on Human-Wildlife Conflict and Its Consequence in Ethiopia

The human-wildlife conflict is the name given to the conflict between humans and wild animals. It hurt people as well as wild creatures. Even though it is well-known and happens everywhere, the vulnerability of developing countries is greater than that of developed countries. In Ethiopia, human-wildlife conflict is a major concern, particularly among those who live near protected areas. In Ethiopia, a lot of research has been done to determine the magnitude and intensity of the animal conflict. The investigations, on the other hand, are limited to a single area and animal species. The goal of this review is to give an overview of the scale of the human-wildlife conflict in Ethiopia. The damage of habitat has increased human-wildlife conflict. The destruction of natural wildlife habitats occurs when forest areas are cleared for food and crop cultivation. Construction projects for roads and railways, dams, housing and infrastructure, energy production, and a variety of other development projects are among them. These people raise cattle, goats, and sheep by migrating from one location to another in search of grazing water and grass, which they do primarily on a seasonal basis whether it's within a country or across international borders. The human population has risen overtime at the expense of other species on the planet, such as wild animals. In Ethiopia, crop damage is also a major source of human-wildlife conflict. People's negative views and perceptions of wildlife have an impact on the intensity and scope of this conflict. This is primarily due to wild animals migrating near human settlements and living near humans as a result of disruption or loss of their natural habitat. Both wildlife and humans suffered as a result of this battle. To reduce the severity of the problem, raising awareness among the local rural community and improving wildlife management policies are critical.

Ever since humans used branches and polished stones as weapons and tools, and made containers with clay, they had begun to get civilized apart from the wildness. For me, the Fengshui forest and courtyard pond in my childhood and the relics in Yuan-ming Yuan were all unforgettable wildness. Today’s ecological civilization enters a new era that embraces wildness, and defending urban wildness is the only way for humans to move toward a higher level of civilization.

WSN Based Prototype Architecture for Alerting the Effects of Forest Fire on Wild Animals in Gir Forest Gujarat

Fire is one of the most obliterating dangers to our woods. Fire is an outstanding servant but a poor boss (Manoj Kumar Jhariya and Ahishek Raj). Wildfire not only destroys flora and their diversity but also significant long-term negative impacts on fauna including wildlife. The degree of fire-related consequences for wild creature networks by and large relies upon the degree of changes in natural surroundings structure and fire-caused species piece(Manoj Kumar Jhariya and Ahishek Raj). Fires mainly affect animals through impacts on their habitat. Fires often cause short-term increases in wildlife food which contribute to an increase in some animal populations(Jack Lyon,Mark H. Huff, Robert G. Hooper).Due to this kind of forest fire wild animals have to suffer from many things like their living style, injury, habitat loses and sometimes they died. This paper proposed a wireless sensor-based prototype architecture that implement using various sensor on the monitoring area and gather useful data from that area than these data are processed in a central server and passed to the concern person or department as alert or notification like smoke alert and how many wild animals are near that fire.

"There is a Great Joy that Comes from the Wild Creatures:" Greening Happiness across Cultures and Disciplines

In recent years, the relationship between human happiness and the natural environment has become the object of considerable research, debate and contention. In this essay I first discuss two powerful concepts with distinctly different national, cultural and disciplinary origins, namely E. O. Wilson’s concept of biophilia and the Bhutanese concept of Gross National Happiness, which have both stirred considerable debate and contributed to shifting contemporary thinking about happiness in a more ecocentered direction. Subsequently I present a “eudaimonic” (happiness-oriented) reading of a significantly older literary text—the French writer Jean Giono’s novel Joy of Man’s Desiring (1935)—that contests the dominant happiness ideologies of the twentieth century but resonates strongly with still-emerging twenty-first-century paradigms of understanding. The essay’s discussions are chosen, organized and prioritized to highlight the multidisciplinary and transnational nature of the new green discourse on happiness, and to exemplify how literary and cultural studies may contribute to this. Focusing on happiness, I suggest, offers an alternative and potentially productive way to engage with questions of environmental crisis and human-natural relationships more generally.
