Excess Thermodynamic Parameters of Binary Liquid Mixtures of Dimethyl Malonate with Isomeric Xylenes at Different Temperatures

Over the complete composition range of mole fractions, densities and ultrasonic velocities of binary liquid mixtures of dimethyl malonate with o-xylene, p-xylene and m-xylene were investigated at 303.15-318.15 K. These parameters were chosen to investigate the impact of substituents and specific locations on several thermodynamic characteristics of binary mixtures. The deviation in adiabatic compressibility (∆βad), excess molar volume (VE) and excess intermolecular free length (LfE) were estimated using the experimental measurements. These extraneous parameters are fitted to a polynomial equation of the Redlich-Kister type. Along with the obtained parameter values, the standard deviation (σ) was also determined.

Molecular interaction of hexylene glycol with toluene, aniline, chlorobenzene, nitrobenzene, benzaldehyde and N,N-dimethylaniline at 308.15 and 318.15 K

ABSTRACT Densities, viscosities and ultrasonic velocities of binary liquid mixtures of hexylene glycol (2-methyl-2,4-pentanediol) with toluene, aniline, chlorobenzene, nitrobenzene, benzaldehyde and N,N-dimethylaniline have been measured at 308.15 and 318.15 K. From these data, excess volume (VE ), deviation in isentropic compressibility (∆KS ), deviation in viscosity (∆η), intermolecular free length (∆Lf ), intermolecular free volume (∆Vf ) and deviation in acoustic impedance (∆Z) have been calculated. FT-IR studied for appropriate mixture to conform hydrogen bonding. Thermodynamic excess properties have been correlated with the Redlich and Kister type of polynomial equation to derive the coefficients and standard errors. Variations in the calculated excess quantities have been studied for mixtures of hexylene glycol with component liquids. Intermolecular interactions have been interpreted from the obtaining experimental results.

Theoretical assessment of ultrasonic velocities of binary liquid mixtures containing p-chloroacetophenone with 1-alcohols at temperatures from 303.15 K to 318.15 K

Ultrasonic velocities and densities and viscosities of parachloroacetophenone with alcohols have been measured at temperatures range from 303.15 K to 318.15 K over the entire composition range of mole fraction. Theoretical ultrasonic velocities were correlated by using Nomoto's relation (UNOM), Impedance relation (UIR), Ideal mixing relation (UIMR), Junjie's relation (UJ) and Rao's specific velocity (UR). The theoretical and experimental values found good agreement with molecular interaction parameter (α) and chi square Goodness-of-fit test (Χ2).

Comparative study of theoretical ultrasonic velocities of binary liquid mixtures containing quinoline and mesitylene at temperatures T = (303.15,308.15,313.15 and 318.15) K

Ultrasonic velocities and densities of binary liquid mixtures containing quinoline and mesitylene have been measured at temperatures T = (303.15,308.15,313.15 and 318.15) K over the entire molefraction range of quinoline under frequency of 3 MHz. Theoretical velocities have been evaluated by using Nomoto (UNOM), Impedance (UIMP), Van-Dael and Vangeel (UVDV), Junjie (UJUN) and Rao's specific velocity (URAO) models. A good agreement has been found between experimental and theoretical values. U2EXP/U2IMX has also been evaluated for non-ideality in the liquid mixtures. The results are discussed in terms of intermolecular interactions between the component molecules of the binary liquid mixtures.

In the chosen system there is a good agreement between experimental and theoretical values calculated by Nomoto’s theory. The deviation in the variation of U2exp/U2imx from unity has also been evaluated for explaining the non ideality in the mixtures. The molecular interaction parameter (χ), Chi-square value, average percentage error (APE) have been evaluated to find the best applicable theory. Excess Acoustical and Volumetric Properties and Theoretical Estimation of Ultrasonic Velocities in Binary Liquid Mixtures of 2-Chloroaniline with Acrylic Esters at 308.15 K

The ultrasonic velocities (u) and densities (ρ) for three binary mixture systems of 2-chloroaniline (CA) with ethyl acrylate (EA), butyl acrylate (BA), and 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (EHA) were measured over the entire mole fraction range at the temperature 308.15 K, including those of pure liquids. From these data, the deviations in ultrasonic velocity (Δu), the excess molar volumes (\(V_{\mathrm{m}}^{\mathrm{E}}\)), deviations in excess molar volume (\(\delta V_{\mathrm{m}}^{\mathrm{E}}\)), deviations in isentropic compressibility (ΔkS), excess intermolecular free lengths (\(L_{\mathrm{f}}^{\mathrm{E}}\)), and excess acoustic impedances (ZE) have been calculated. The variations of these properties with solution composition are discussed in terms of molecular interactions among unlike molecules of the mixtures. The excess and deviation functions have been fitted to Redlich-Kister type polynomials and the corresponding standard deviations σ(YE) have been calculated. The deviations and excess values were plotted against the mole fraction of CA over the whole composition range. The \(V_{\mathrm{m}}^{\mathrm{E}}\) and ΔkS values are negative in the EA + CA and BA + CA systems but are positive in the EHA + CA system, which indicates the presence of specific interactions between unlike molecules. Further, theoretical values of the sound velocity in these mixtures have been evaluated using various theories and have been compared with experimental sound velocities to verify the applicability of such theories to the investigated systems. Two types of polynomial equations, f(x) and g(x), have been fitted to experimental values of ultrasonic velocities. The sound velocities obtained by these polynomials have extremely small deviations from the experimental values.
