The use of visualization technologies in the study of the probability of life on exoplanets

Abstract The modern generation receives a significant amount of information from various sources daily. The information received should be perceived and analyzed, and conclusions drawn. Young people prefer visual technologies that allow them to obtain and analyse dynamic details quickly. The educational process should not lag; on the contrary, it should prepare a thinking, creative person who can easily use modern digital technologies. This paper discusses the use of the Universal Sandbox 2 universe simulator in the study of astronomy, namely the search for exoplanets and the study of the conditions necessary for the existence of life on them.

Sensitization of Visually Induced Motion Sickness by Prior Provocative Physical Motion

INTRODUCTION: Habituation to motion has therapeutic applications for motion sickness desensitization and rehabilitation of patients with vestibular disease. Less attention has been devoted to the opposite process: sensitization. METHODS: Subjects (N = 50) were randomly allocated to four sequences: Baseline visual stimulus; then 15 min of time gap; cross-coupled motion (C-C) or a Control condition; then a time gap of 15 min or 2 h; then a retest visual stimulus. Motion exposures were for 10 min or until moderate nausea, whichever was sooner. The visual stimulus was a scene rotating in yaw at 0.2 Hz with superimposed "wobble". C-C was whole-body rotation on a turntable with eight 45° head tilts during each 30-s period. Control was head tilt without rotation. Rotational velocity was incremented in staircase steps of 3° · s−1 every 30 s. RESULTS: Groups were equivalent for Total Motion Sickness Symptom scores elicited by the first visual stimulus (combined: mean ± SD 10.8 ± 8.4). C-C produced greater Total Symptoms (20.3 ± 6.8) than Control (3.1 ± 3.7). Subjects recovered subjectively from C-C before retest of visual stimulus. For the retest visual stimulus, Total Symptoms were higher following C-C (15.1 ± 9.0) than following Control (8.3 ± 7.1) for both the 15 min and 2 h retests. Sickness ratings (SR) mirrored these effects of C-C. DISCUSSION: C-C motion sensitized subsequent responses to visual stimulation up to 2 h later. Sensitization of visual stimulation crossed modalities and appeared subconscious since it occurred despite subjective recovery from C-C. For some individuals, a previously relatively innocuous visual stimulus became nauseogenic on retest. Pecha Kucha: The Use of Visual Technology for Storytelling to Improve Students Presentation Skills in Marketing Course

Delivering effective presentations requires mastery of essential presentation skills and utilization of presentation tools. This study investigated the effects of using the visual technology for storytelling method known as Pecha Kucha as opposed to the traditional modes of using PowerPoint with heavy use of bullet points and text on marketing students’ competency in giving presentations. The study adopts an experimental research design. The data was collected from students’ self-evaluation and lecturers’ evaluations of the presentations. It also uses qualitative data from the students’ and lecturers’ reflections. Results from students’ self-evaluation revealed that modes of presentation did not contribute significantly on students’ overall performance. However, the study indicated that those who adopted the Pecha Kucha method did show significant improvements in their ability to use physical behaviour and gestures. On the contrary, results from the lecturers’ evaluation showed that the Pecha Kucha method did have significant effects in improving students’ overall performance as well as in each of the components evaluated. The findings led to the understanding that for lecturers, the Pecha Kucha is an enhanced mode of presentation. The study also highlighted the implications on teaching and learning and the potential of using alternative presentation formats.

Information communication and aesthetic value of data visualization in the field of art and design

Abstract Data visualization has become a popular discipline in today’s society, and understanding this trend has become a hot topic in the field of design. This paper introduces the visual perception system of the human eye, combining graphic features and dynamic features to reveal the visualization mechanism of information dynamic conveying in the field of art design. Then, the quantitative model of visual communication in color and graphic texture in art design, respectively, and the art design image containing rich plants are taken as an example to realize the visual analysis of information communication in the field of art design. There is a significant negative correlation (p > 0.05) between the purity of the foreground image, the foreground image color gamut area, and the proportion of foreground image color matching. This means that the higher the purity of the foreground image, the smaller the color matching area, leading to more coordinated color matching and a higher aesthetic degree. Simultaneously, the alteration in the gray value of the image texture typically exhibits characteristics such as high frequency, small amplitude, and randomness. The use of visualization technology in art design, reasonable collocation of colors, and graphic aesthetics fully demonstrate its aesthetic value.

Археологический музей и визуальная культура: вызов или возможности

The quantitative and qualitative leap in the production and perception of visual information prompts many researchers to describe modern culture as visual. The emergence of the technical ability to create, copy and distribute visual images has led to important sociocultural changes. That has affected such a realm of the visual as the archaeological museum. It has lost its monopoly on the presentation of historical artifacts and has been forced to compete with the mass media for the viewers. On the other hand, it has significantly expanded the technical tools for studying and exhibiting its collections. At the same time, there are concerns that the museum may lose its uniqueness under the pressure of visual culture and drown in a sea of attractions. The use of visual technologies at the exposition could not contribute to the actualization of the heritage, but, on the contrary, lead to its devaluation. This article is an attempt to analyze the correlation between the challenges that visual culture poses to the archaeological museum and the opportunities that it provides.

DESIGN THINKING IN THE VISUALIZATION OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS IN THE AGRARIAN SPHERE: SCIENCE AND ART

The article represents an attempt to comprehend the possibilities of applying general methodological principles of design thinking in the process of planning and developing innovative economic development projects in the agricultural sector. The relations of design and visualization as the science and art processes in the economy are outlined. It is noted that smart agriculture uses advanced technologies such as sensors, devices, machines and information technology, robots, GPS technologies, which will allow farms to be more profitable, efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly. The authors claim that the goal of digitalization of agriculture is to achieve a significant increase in the efficiency and sustainability of its functioning through fundamental changes in the quality of management of both technological processes and decision-making processes at all levels of the hierarchy, based on modern production methods, and the further use of information about the state of controlled elements and subsystems, as well as states of the economic environment of agriculture. Based on a study of the use of visualization technologies within the framework of the philosophy of design thinking, it is shown that the introduction of digital technologies in the agro-industrial complex will dramatically increase labor productivity and reduce risks in agriculture. In modern conditions of intense competition, digitalization based on such projects will give the agricultural sector of any country (which is especially important for developing countries) great competitive advantages.

A Subjectivity-based Perspective on AGI Technology

This study focuses on profoundly exploring the issue of the relationship between AI and human subjectivity, which is crucial to counteract the current panic brought about by AGI. METHODOLOGY: A multi- faceted argumentfor whether AGI ( exemplified by GPT) is creative is made using a logical analysis of causality andproblem awareness. This logical approach, which combines theory and technology, canfill the non- technical or non- theoretical gap in the current research methodology. RESULTS : AGI generalization does not produce new things that are the opposite of the" old" or essentially changed by the use of visual technology, and it is not known whether the results of AGI generalization are in accordance with the laws of development.The paradoxical study of the subject and the model still lacks the characteristics and creative properties of the new thing. CONCLUSIONS: First, the innovative aspect of logic finds that man and AGI do not exist in opposition, but complement each other. Second, the innovative aspect of the theoryfinds it necessary to solve the problem of the relationship between human and technology rationally in the critical and revolutionary spirit of dialectics, emphasizing the unity of human historical development with the principle of wholeness. Third, technological innovation finds that enhancing human subjectivity should focus on the field of scientific and technological innovation, accelerating human enhancement of technological development and avoiding human arrogance.

ABSTRACT The Paralympic system adapted the press modality, allowing the participation of people with physical disabilities called para-powerlifting (PPL). The purpose was to establish the rates of valid and invalid movements; identify if factors such as the weight category, gender, or athletes ‘country have an influence on the results; A retrospective study was elaborated in which the results of the null and valid movements made in 12 international events of the 2013-2016 Paralympic cycle were recovered from the official page of the international paralympic committee The results indicate that in these twelve events a total of 6,759 movements were performed, of which 3,264 moves were valid and 2,991 were rated as null, with no significant differences in null movements between men and women. These results indicate the need to review the judging system or the use of visual technologies to reduce the rate of null movements.

COVID-19 in Russia: Evolution of Views on the Pandemic. Report I

Over the two years of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) pandemic, there has been an evolution of views in various fields of medicine, which has led to a powerful development of scientific research in the field of epidemiology, clinic, diagnosis and therapy of COVID-19. The article highlights the evolution of views and approaches to the study of the epidemiology and radiology of COVID-19. The data of molecular genetic studies are shown, which are the most important component of epidemiological surveillance. The study of the manifestations of the COVID-19 epidemic process made it possible to distinguish two stages in the development of the epidemiological situation in the Russian Federation. At the first stage of the epidemic, two rises in the incidence rate of the population were recorded, regulated by social and natural factors. The second stage of the epidemic was due to a change in the biological properties of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, followed by a change in the prevailing genovariants (Alpha, Delta and Omicron). At the second stage of the epidemic, three rises in the incidence of the population were recorded. The general principles for the use of radiodiagnosis methods, which are used primarily to detect lung damage in COVID-19, are given. With the accumulation of experience, a natural change in ideas about the algorithms for the use of visualization technologies has occurred.

The relevance of the use of visualization technology in interpreting the results of data analysis is substantiated. Practical aspects of visualization of Data Mining results are considered. Classifications of analytical methods and existing practical tasks are given. The classification of visualization tools in the context of analytical methods and data analytics tasks is proposed. An overview of modern analytical systems allowing to get a visual representation of the data is made. The choice of analytical systems, the visual components of which are used in the study, is justified. A brief description of the tasks of analytics is given. The analysis of the built-in visualizers for various analytical systems is carried out taking into account the methods and tasks of analytics. The similarities and differences in the built-in visualization tools used for each of the systems are considered. The problem of the lack of visual components for interpreting the results of the "associative rules" model is indicated. Modern visualization tools are noted on the example of interactive panels "Cluster Profiles" in the Loginom package. The analysis of specialized tools for visualization of metrics in the considered Data Mining models is carried out. Conclusions are formulated about the possibility of supplementing the built-in tools of a specific analytical system with alternative components of other systems.

Improving the Learning of Mechanics Through Augmented Reality

This study investigates to which extent students’ understanding of the physical phenomenon of torque can be improved through the use of visualization technology, in particular of augmented reality (AR). The students in the first-year course Mechanics I at KTH participated in the study by taking two tests on torque. In between those tests, a subgroup of students participated in a user study where they used an AR application to solve problems regarding torque. The results of the pre-test and the post-test indicate that the subgroup who used the app improved their understanding of torque to a greater extent than the ones who did not use the app. However, a larger sample space would be required to obtain a complete statistical characterization of the reported (qualitative and quantitative) improvement.

Visualization Technologies for Learning and Teaching Veterinary Acarology and Entomology.

Educational technologies are tools and resources used for improving teaching, learning, and creative inquiry. Visualization technologies (VTs) fall within this category and comprise a high diversity of strategies from simple infographics to complex forms of visual data analysis. Traditionally, parasitology has been a challenging subject in medical and veterinary degree courses due to the high number of scientific names, morphological characters, and complex life cycles, among other factors. This has been reinforced by conventional teaching methods with limited innovation strategies. Here we present the design and evaluation of an interactive album of veterinary acarology and entomology, "Álbum Interactivo de Acarología y Entomología Veterinaria" (AIAEV). This tool was assessed through three strategies: (1) a mean grade comparison between veterinary parasitology classes before and after VT implementation, (2) a system usability scale (SUS), and (3) a student/user satisfaction index. The grade value was higher in the class after implementation, the SUS total score was 80.05 (excellent), and 93.75% considered it a useful tool. This is the first study aimed at investigating the use of VTs to teach veterinary acarology and entomology and shows promising results to develop and implement digital technologies in this and other veterinary curricula disciplines.

Effectiveness of BIM-based visualization technologies for construction site health and safety management: A Meta-synthesis Approach

Drawing from existing studies, this study presents a meta-synthesis aimed to examine the effectiveness of BIM-based visualization systems for health and safety management on construction job sites in comparison to other methods. A systematic review and qualitative method of methasynthensis was conducted. An online literature search was conducted in December 2019 to obtain 64 studies published on BIM and visualization technologies in the construction environment from the Scopus database. For further selection and inclusion, the abstracts, titles, and keywords of the 64 papers were reviewed, and three filter criteria were applied to eliminate unnecessary papers that did not align with the research subject and theme. After filtration, a total of 45 publications were selected. A synthesis was conducted on a set of 6 papers on BIM and visualization technologies for construction safety management. The study identified key themes and categories and observable patterns among studies. The qualitative review revealed that the number of accidents, injuries, and property damaged was significantly lower when BIM combined with visualization systems were used. Additionally, many of the studies justified the use of visualization technologies linked with BIM. These studies showed that the integration allowed safety managers to develop adequate safety plans, inspect construction projects, collect, and analyze data on safety violations, and monitor hazardous situations in real-time.

Visual techniques in the practice of implementing various inclusive approaches to learning in the context of digitalization

The article systematizes the main approaches and practical directions of implementation of inclusion in the educational environment (diagnostic, social, installation, resource, differentiated, dynamic, system, conductive, axiological approaches). Among the materials of the work there is a description of the key components of the implementation of inclusive theory and practice in the digital environment, an analysis of the key directions in working with students with special educational needs. The work contains the result of systematization of the use of inclusion in different approaches, taking into account all the subjects of the educational space in the context of different planes, including taking into account the possibilities of using visual technologies of work in the digital space. The article describes the results of the use of visual technologies (mind maps, scribing, crossence) in the digital environment in order to optimize the inclusive practices of the educational space, in particular, describes the results of native teaching of children without special educational needs and their parents to participate in inclusion, its support in mass schools. The use of visual technologies was effective – interest in the problem increased, and parents and children were actively involved in the discussion. All this allowed us to conclude that working in a digital environment using visual technologies is a simple and mass way to involve people in the problems of implementing inclusive practices.

Ukrainian Experience of VR-reconstruction of Historical and Cultural Heritage Objects

The purpose of the article is to analyze the existing projects of virtualization of historical and cultural heritage objects in Ukraine.The research methodology is based on the application of a system method, which is the basis for the study of phenomena related to virtualism.The scientific novelty is that for the first time the article analyzes the Ukrainian experience of VR-reconstruction of historical and cultural heritage sites.Conclusions. The attention is drawn to the lack of a list of cultural heritage items to be digitized in Ukraine, as well as standards for creating a digital resource to ensure accessibility, active and efficient use, compatibility and data exchange at the local and international levels, preservation of the created resource and its updating. The emphasis is placed on the capabilities of IT in the field of preservation and management of historical and cultural heritage: from the creation of information systems, the use of various security systems in the preservation of cultural heritage, control and monitoring of architectural monuments and other cultural values, creation and maintenance of cultural values, web-technologies – to the use of visualization technologies and virtual reality technologies used to reproduce lost or damaged cultural heritage sites, etc. The essence and features of VR-projects “Pocket Country”, “Trakhtemyriv-Digital”, “Castles 360: Transcarpathia”, the project on the three-dimensional construction of the Serednie Castle, “Pinzel. AR”, VR-development Pixelated Realities and AERO 3D, “Authentic Ukraine: intangible cultural heritage”, “Tustan_virtual”, “Digital museum collections of the Kyiv fortress”. The mention is made of the unique digital platform “Ukrainian National Intelligence”, designed to provide access to the digitized cultural heritage of Ukraine. It is concluded that the analysis of existing projects for digitization of cultural heritage sites urgently requires the development of a strategy for building a future digital collection, which should take into account the planning of the digitization process; coordination of legal issues; compliance with generally accepted management standards and principles; support access and preservation of the created digital resource.

Use of visual technologies in the development of digital literacy of University teachers

The article contains the results of research on the use of visualization in the training of University teachers (development of digital literacy). The paper describes the concept of visualization, its main levels (visualization of data, information, knowledge), briefly describes the proposed course, assessment parameters before and after participation, and summarizes the results of the study. The paper also reflects the results of a survey of students who study with these teachers and heads of educational organizations in order to identify possible changes in the professional activities of teachers who have completed the proposed course. The results of the study confirmed the effectiveness of using visualization in improving the quality of professional activity of teachers, and significant differences were found in the assessment of teachers ' attitude to innovation and work in the digital environment before and after the course. According to the results of the study, the features of the use of visual technologies in the training of teachers and the development of their digital literacy were highlighted.

The article highlights the features of the use of visualization technologies during distance learning of the Ukrainian language in general secondary education. Scientific works on the coverage of the outlined problem in them are analyzed. It is proved that an effective learning tool, a productive methodological tool for intellectual development of students is the visualization of educational material. The peculiarities of the preparation of educational information are determined, which in a visually accessible for perception and understanding form can provide students with basic or necessary information. It is emphasized that the principle of cognitive visualization is based on psychological laws, according to which the effectiveness of learning increases through the connection to the process of perception of the «figurative» right hemisphere. The peculiarities of using the technology of visualization of educational material, in particular in distance learning, are substantiated. Techniques of structuring and visualization of educational material are described. Emphasis is placed on compliance with certain recommendations to achieve the goals set in the implementation of visualization technologies. It is emphasized that when working on the visualization of educational material, it is necessary to take into account certain patterns of perception of visual aids by students. The typical mistakes that are most often made in the process of visualization of educational material are analyzed, recommendations are given to eliminate them. It was found that the use of distance and blended learning and the significant potential of multimedia learning tools encourage teachers to use visualization in the educational process, which contributes to the intensification of the process of learning. Examples of realization of various pedagogical technologies of visualization in the process of teaching the Ukrainian language in general secondary education institutions in a distance format are given.

Technologies of visualisation in the modern school (an example of natural sciences and mathematics)

The article discusses the methodological aspects of the modernization to the subjects of nature-mathematical cycle of pre-service teachers to the use of visualization technologies. The specificity of the implementation of classical didactic principles (visibility, science, systemacy and consistency, the connection of theory with practice, mindfulness and strength of learning) in the professional training of specialists in terms of the use of visualization technologies is considered. The specific didactic principles of preparing the future teacher for the use of visualization technologies are highlighted. The principle of innovation, which provides for training students to use the newest capabilities of visualization technologies in their future professional activities; the principle of aesthetics, which consists in teaching students to create didactic visual aids with a pedagogically effective use of color and typographic solutions, the laws of composition in accordance with the psycho-physiological characteristics of the child for the effective assimilation of educational material and its most attractive perception; The principle of orientation to cloud services, due to the rapid development of hardware and software, which is based on teaching students to create digital didactic visual materials using modern online tools.
