SMP Amal Mulia is a private junior high school standing in the Klapanuggal in 1999. The school is located in the residential neighborhood residents sunda, many students SMP amal mulia are used to communicating with sundanese therefore Indonesian teacher uses instructional communication strategies to increase students' language skills SMP Amal Mulia. This study reviews Instructional Communication Strategy with Student Teachers in SMP Amal Mulia in Klapanunggal Bogor. The purpose of this study was to analyze the instructional communication strategies used by Indonesian languange teacher to improve students' language skills SMP. Besides analyzing instructional communication strategy, the authors also analyzes the process of message processing, the use of message communication, the use of instructional media and communication techniques and tactics used by Indonesian teacher. This research method is descriptive qualitative, the author explores instructional communication strategies used by Indonesian teacher. Information obtained through observation and depth interviews with key informants and informants. The results of this study illustrate that the instructional communication strategies used by Indonesian teacher is the gift of communication strategies (rewarding) and punishment (punishing). The processing of messages that are used to support the communication is processing messages expressive, conventional, and rhetorical. Media is often used instructional tapes, videos, and training in the language lab. Instructional communication method used is the method of lecture, discussion and question and answer. Techniques and tactics used are small grouping technique and tactical use of communications with elements of humor. This strategy is used because it has received greater attention than other instructional communication strategy

Teachers’ Attitudes towards the Use of Instructional Resources in Teaching of the Novel

This study set out to investigate the varieties of instructional materials that are available and used for teaching the novel in selected secondary schools in Baringo District. The research was guided by Piaget's Cognitive Theory which has laid a strong case for the use of instructional media in instruction as it facilitates understanding of literary concepts and ideas. The study is a descriptive survey which was concerned with making accurate assessment of incidence, distribution and relationship of phenomena. Stratified random sampling was used to select the 12 secondary schools from which two form 3 and 4 literature teachers were selected to participate in this research. Descriptive data was collected by administering questionnaires and observing teachers during literature lessons. Evidence and deduction from data analysis revealed that most of the schools had some of the recommended novels but very few of the non-book instructional materials for teaching the subject. In addition, financial and administrative support was not easily obtainable and the novel was taught through verbal presentation. Recommendations are made with respect availability and use of instructional resources relevant for teaching the novel and the establishment of National and District instructional media Resource Centres.

EFEKTIVITAS MEDIA ANIMASI TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR BIOLOGI SISWA SMPN 2 KEDIRI

The use of instructional media is essential for understanding Biology. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of animation media on learning outcomes. The study was conducted with quasi-experimental and non-equivalent pre-test-post-test control group designs. Data were taken from the pre-test, post-test and gain scores. The research instrument is a written test in the form of multiple choice questions. Data were analyzed using 'mean difference test'. The results showed that the results of the study on sub photosynthesis and respiration material differed significantly. The gain analysis shows that the animation media has improved student learning outcomes.

The results of student learning is a combination of various factors that affect the overall learning process. The phenomenon in this study is the lack of student learning outcomes are seen from the results of the national exam on economic subjects, especially the material accounting, one of the causes of the problems in the learning process, namely on how to give lessons conducted by teachers, and the use of instructional media, especially the media module.This study, use the method of the experiment to make a difference between the results of the study on the student teaching and learning by contextual the use of the media, the students are not using the models of the contextual teaching and learning to use media. Results of the analysis of 10 schools in the city of bandung at 8 school with the influence of contextual teaching and learning module, using this hypothesis can be seen from the increase is the result of study to students.

Primary School Teachers’ Perceptions of the Effects of Instructional Media on Basic Science and Technology Curriculum Delivery in Nigeria

The primary aim of this paper is to investigate the perceived effects of instructional media on the teaching and learning of Basic Science and Technology (BST) Curriculum at the primary education level in Nigeria. Specifically, it seeks opinion on the effects of instructional media on the teaching and learning of BST. It does so with a view to clarifying the advantages or otherwise of using instructional media in teaching and learning BST curriculum. Participants were sixty-three primary school teachers selected through simple random sampling technique. Four research questions were formulated. Data was collected using a questionnaire. Statistical tests using frequencies and percentages indicated that the teachers perceived that instructional media have positive and beneficial effects on their own teaching and on pupils learning, interest and participation in BST. Hence, the use of instructional media is suited to the requirements of the BST curriculum and would facilitate the attainment of its objectives.

The low learning outcomes Social Studies sixth grade students of SDN 2 Marga Mulya Sungai LobanTanah Bumbu. Teachers tend to use the lecture method, less use of instructional media in teaching Social Studies. One alternative to overcome this problem is the use of Social Studies Learning Media. This study, researchers used a qualitative approach. Researchers sought to explore in order to get the data naturally or it is in the field through intensive observation and communication with the various data sources. Data collection techniques in this study, namely: (1) observation, (2) interviews, (3) documentation, (4) combined. Based on the survey results revealed (1) Media Social Studies owned learning maps, Globe, learning CD, fruit atlases, books for students 2:1, Social Studies landscape posters Kits. Teachers utilize instructional media Social Studies owned schools adapted to the material made in the RPP and make LKS. In the early observations of teachers utilize instructional media lacking Social Studies maps and completeness of the material globe.pada map. Student learning outcomes are less satisfactory completed. Observation of both teachers utilize instructional media whiteboard, maps, globes, pictures, student involvement in the use of media in the material sample countries in the continent of Asia, Learning outcomes of the students final test average 100% mastery. From the results of student responses of strongly agreed students answered happy implemented by utilizing the Social Studies learning instruction media material easier to understand because it is done with real world example so that they can know the matery that is still abstract to concrete.Keywords: Learning Media Social Studies

Effects of Developed Electronic Instructional Medium on Students’ Achievement in Biology

The study investigated the effects of developed electronic instructional medium (video DVD instructional package) on students’ achievement in Biology. It was guided by two research questions and two hypotheses, using a quasi-experimental, pretest-postest control group design. The sample comprised of 180 senior secondary, year two students from six schools located in the three education zones of Niger State. The subjects were divided into an experimental group (electronic medium instruction) and a control group (traditional lecture instruction). Structured Biology Achievement Test (SBAT) with internal consistency reliability co-efficient of 0.83 was used to measure the student’s achievement before and after the treatment. The data obtained from the study were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). Results from Means, Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) and Scheffe test indicated that the achievement of students in biology greatly improved with the use of electronic instructional medium. Students’ gender had no significant effect on their achievement in biology when electronic medium was used. These results have implications for innovative use of instructional media and creating sound strategies for disseminating science in the classroom.

INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA IN TEACHING AND LEARNING: A NIGERIAN PERSPECTIVE

The focus of this paper is to discuss the use of instructional media in teaching and learningfrom a Nigerian perspective. The problem with the use of instructional media has existedsince the 1970s after the oil boom era. As soon as corruption and mismanagement of the oilresources became more serious, all other sectors including education were no longerproperly funded or given the needed attention for national development. As a result, mostlecturers and teachers in many Nigerian tertiary institutions now use the lecture method onlyin teaching their various courses. The use of this type of method as the sole teachingtechnique can lead to boredom in learners, lack of learner participation, noise factors thatcan cause communication breakdown during teaching, learners’ mixing up of information,and lack of interest in or attention to the subject matter being taught. Some sources wherelecturers can select instructional media for teaching their courses are identified anddiscussed. It is recommended that the Nigerian government should urgently assist teachers,especially at the tertiary level, in the procurement and use of instructional media throughtraining and retraining, workshops, conferences, etc. in order to fit into the new scientificorder of addressing the nation’s educational problems.

Marshall McLuhan as Educationist: Institutional Learning in the Postliterate Era

Acknowledged as the father of media studies and prophet of the information age, Marshall McLuhan is scarcely recognized at all as an educational theorist. But that is changing. Harshly critical of the educational practices of his time, McLuhan offered a vision of learning that replaced lectures with active student participation, interaction, and active involvement, engaging learners in discovery learning, rather than prepackaged teacher and textbook-delivered content to be regurgitated on tests. His vision of "classrooms without walls" included a transition from hardware to software, redefinition of teacher roles, elimination of subjects, reform of assessment, and the use of instructional media, not just books. The curriculum would focus on media literacy and include the training of perception through figure/ground analysis and the inclusion of arts education. Noting the trend toward "learning a living," the constant upgrading of knowledge and skills by professional workers, he anticipated today's emphasis on lifelong learning and workplace training. McLuhan's ideas on education align with the philosophy and theory of constructivism espoused by educational reformers today and anticipate reform initiatives in pedagogy, curriculum, assessment, and the media literacy movement.Not all of McLu is nu or tru, but then again neither is all of anybody else. —John M. Teachers of Poor Communities: The Tale of Instructional Media Use in Primary Schools of Gedeo Zone, Southern Ethiopia

The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of working conditions at school on teachers’ level of instructional media use in the primary school system of Gedeo Zone, southern Ethiopia. The survey was made on a sample of 139 (24.4 % female and male 75.6 %) teachers who were randomly drawn from 9 primary schools (four rural and five urban primary schools). The instruments used to generate data were self-reported questionnaires tapping the level of instructional media use and the associated school-level environmental factors. The findings based on Factor Analysis revealed three independent dimensions of school environment factors related to the use of instructional media by teachers. It is further disclosed that the level of use of instructional media is low with an average frequency of use swinging between once in two weeks to twice in three weeks during four weeks of instruction. The implications of the findings related to pre-service and in-service teacher training are also discussed.

This study aims to describe roles of Teacher Work Group (TWG) as an organization to develop teachers’ professionalism, and its roles to improve science teachers’ professionalism. This study was a descriptive qualitative study. The data were collected through observations, interviews, and documents. The data trustworthiness in this study was established by using several steps including careful observations, triangulation, referential adequacy, and consultations with supervisors. The findings in this study reveal that TWG as an organization to develop teachers’ professionalism conducts a meeting once a week and the majority of the participants attend it in accordance with the schedule set before. In playing its roles, TWG actively takes part in responding to the problems that teachers face in Cluster 3 and the participants take an active part in joining the activities and in solving a variety of learning problems that they face. Besides, the roles of TWG in improving science teachers’ professionalism in Cluster 3, the main focus in the TWG activities, are on the aspects directly related to the learning quality improvement such as understanding of the curriculum, mastery of materials, use of instructional media, and use of evaluation methods and techniques. Meanwhile, aspects related to the development of teachers’ personality such as discipline in general and commitment to work do not become the main focus in the TWG activities. Student Achievement in an Educational Technology Course As Enhanced By Cooperative Learning

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of cooperative learning on students' achievement in an Educational Technology course in an Initial Teacher Training Program. A cooperative learning strategy was compared with the traditional whole class direct instruction approach. Ninety-five first year full-time students at a College of Education constituted the sample. The students' achievement included: academic achievement in the course, quantity measurement in the use of instructional media, and quality rating of utilization of instructional media during their teaching practice. Their attitude change was also assessed by an Attitude Inventory. The results indicated that cooperative learning strategy had a positive effect on academic achievement and quantity measurement in the use of instructional media (F(l,91) = 7.06, p < 0.01; F(l,91) = 4.59, p < 0.05). Cooperative learning strategy also had a positive influence on students' attitudes towards instructional media and their learning condition (F(l,93) = 5.07, p < 0.05; F(l,93) = 6.20, p < 0.05).

ASSESSING NEEDS FOR POSTSECONDARY VOCATIONAL HOME ECONOMICS INSTRUCTIONAL MEDIA AND MATERIALS IN TEXAS

The Education Amendments of 1976 (PL 94‐482) provided funds for states to develop postsecondary vocational home economics instructional materials. To date, most states have not developed instructional materials designed for use at the postsecondary level. This report summarizes a needs assessment project designed to identify the specific needs instructors perceived for instructional materials in their subject area, as well as student characteristics and present use of instructional media and materials in Texas programs. The activities of the project included a nationwide search for existing materials suitable for use at the post‐secondary level; the preparation of four annotated bibliographies; and the development and statewide administration of a survey instrument. Correspondence Education and Mass Media: Some Issues and Concerns

Abstract Videotex has been identified by educators as the newest medium which could significantly enhance instruction, particularly distance education. Yet the impact of new media on the educational sector has been minimal and disappointing. We identify reasons why media innovations are not adopted by mainstream education, as well as correspondence programmes. The ‘gadget syndrome’, the perpetuation of ‘audiovisual myths’, and the inadequacy of media research, contribute to this situation. More effective application can be achieved through the systematic use of media selection models and a greater awareness of media attributes. Educators who promote the use of instructional media will need to be cognizant of purposive change strategies to facilitate the adoption of appropriate media techniques.

A Study of Some Results of an Educational Media Course within a Teacher Preparation Program

This study sought to examine one dimension of the on-the-job behavior of secondary public school teachers who have completed a teacher preparation program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. More specifically, the study examined the on-the-job behaviors and attitudes of these teachers in the following terms: (1) use of instructional media in the classroom, (2) use of instructional media in making student assignments, (3) use of instructional media in conducting student evaluation, (4) years experience (first year or fifth year teacher), (5) teaching area (behavioral science or physical science). The data revealed that differences do exist between the secondary teachers in the behavioral sciences in their attitudes toward and use of instructional media in student assignments and evaluation with physical science teachers scoring higher. Study data also seem to indicate that, regardless of the number of years of teaching experience teachers have, attitudes and uses of instructional media differ very little. It should be pointed out, however, that the attitudes and behaviors toward the use of instructional media by first year teachers, as shown by their mean scores, were slightly higher than those with five years teaching experience.
