Preface

It is with great pleasure to announce The International Conference on Ummah: Digital Innovation, Humanities and Economy 2020 or known as ICU: DIHEc 2020. ICU: DIHEc 2020 is organized by Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya and Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. The main theme of the conference is “Realizing Society 5.0 for a Better Life.” The conference is held on 18-19 August 2020. Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the conference is held virtually. Nevertheless, the substance of this conference is still the same, namely to give a great opportunity for academics from all over the world to share and discuss the research ideas and results on the fields of economics & business, engineering & Information and Communication Technology (ICT), education, and humanities.
 We are so pleased to see many respected colleagues in this event. We have a total of 98 accepted papers. Moreover, we have the representative affiliations from 5 countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Oman, Philippines, and Poland. This is an excellent opportunity to meet and to come up with great ideas during parallel session. We have four keynote speakers to share their knowledge and experience as well as numerous of papers to be presented.
 Let us express our gratitude to all participants who have supported and made the ICU: DIHEc 2020 possible. I send a great acknowledge to all hardworking committee members. English Language Problem-based Learning via user-generated 3D world Roblox Module: Need Analysis

This study aimed to explore the need of a user generated 3D world (Roblox) online game module in English Language Problem-based Learning for Malaysian university students. The researchers used observations, interview, and questionnaire distribution that were implemented to 60 university students studying English Language at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Malaysia as well as 4 English Language teachers in the university. The results indicated that the students agreed that learning English language by using Roblox online games was interactive, challenging, exciting and fun. The students also recommended that the activities in the English Language Roblox Module should be easily done and accessed in all platforms including mobile phone, table and computer. Teachers also pointed out that the narrative elements that involve critical thinking skills were needed in the module to help them fostering the students to imply their problem-solving skills related to real-life issues in the learning process. The implications of this study will be significant for the English Language Roblox module developer as the technique for promoting problem solving skills in English Language Learning and to enhance students’ awareness on real-life issues.

The Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) is proud to host the International Conference on Science and Technology 2020 (ICoST 2020), virtually. The three main topics highlighted in this conference include Agriculture and Food Security, Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, Bio Industry, Materials and Forest Resources Technology.Since the inception of UMK, science and technology has been at the forefront and as a niche of research, highlighted through various agendas and measures in collaboration with different state and federal government agencies, non-governmental organizations and local communities. The development of technology along with the advancement in science helps to bring in a revolution in various fields such as medicine, agriculture, education, information and technology, which is parallel to the objective of this conference.The primary goal of this conference which is to promote research and developmental activities in science and technology as well as to promote scientific information interchange between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners working in and around the world. This conference an ideal platform for people to share views and experiences in science and technology and related areas. Short Notes on Traditional Vegetables Consumed by Jahai Tribe in Klewang Village, Royal Belum State Park, Malaysia

Indigenous people are known for their lives blended with the environment. The resource for their survival was procured from their surrounding nature, including the traditional vegetables. Not much is known about the traditional vegetables species that they consumed and the ones they don’t. A simple survey was conducted among the Jahai aboriginal community in Klewang Village, Royal Belum State Park, on 5th March 2020. The study was conducted randomly using face-to-face interviews and surveys to identify the traditional vegetables found and consumed in the villages. The habitats of these traditional vegetables were recorded and the plants were collected and photographed for identification and live specimens were planted at Agro Techno Park, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Jeli Campus. All species were identified using spot characters such as inflorescence and leaf morphology. Survey results showed that there were seven species of traditional vegetables including planted and wild grown, namely, sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas), cassava (Manihot esculenta), purple milletia (Morus atropurpurea), torch ginger (Etlingera elatior), pigweed (Amaranthus viridis), Indian mulberry (Morus citrifolia) and wild eggplant (Solanum torvum). Out of these seven traditional vegetables, there are only three vegetable species that are not consumed by this tribe: pigweed (A. viridis), Indian mulberry shoots (M. citrifolia) and purple milletia shoots (M. atropurpurea).

We are very grateful that our 2nd Conference on Tropical Resources and Sustainable Sciences (CTReSS 2.0) held in Kelantan, Malaysia on 10th till 11th August 2020 was successfully organised. This conference was organised by Faculty of Earth Science, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) with collaboration Research Management and Innovation Centre, UMK provided an international forum for experimental and theoretical researchers/stakeholders to exchange ideas pertaining to sustainable science and natural resource management.Aligning with a National Policy on Biodiversity 2016 and National Policy on the Environment 2002, “Protecting and Conserving the Environment for Sustainable Living” was a theme of this conference emphasising on sustainable development future enhancement and better living standards. The main goal of this conference was to explore and scrutinise the current issues of natural resource management from environmental, social and economic perspectives. It can be described as the needs to prepare the world for future generation to continue the responsibility to make the world a better place to live.Through this conference, ideas, initial outcome, research products and sustainable development policies were coined, and solutions to preserve our dying nature were recommended. Perhaps it can be further enhanced to be applied and implemented locally and globally. Thus, we have to ensure that we conduct the necessary steps towards sustainability of the world in whatever discipline and role that we have.We would like to extend our profound gratitude to the authors, reviewers participants, organisers, sponsors, supporting partners and the conference management team for their enthusiasm and synergistic efforts in ensuring the conference successfulness. Local Communities Willingness to Pay for Conservation of Ecotourism Resources at Gelam Forest, Kelantan, Malaysia

Gelam Forest significantly has a unique biodiversity composition that is not found in other areas. This unique biodiversity has high potential for ecotourism that has yet to be explored and promoted in Malaysia. The purpose of this study is to estimate the economic value of Gelam (Mellaleuca spp.) forest for being developed as one of the potential ecotourism attractions in Kelantan. The primary data were collected through face to face surveys with the local community in districts of Bachok. A total of 200 respondents were participated in this study which consists of nearby locals that have different demographics. Contingent valuation method (CVM) was applied in this study to determine the local community’s willingness to pay for ecotourism resources conservation at Gelam Forest. The result from logit regression indicates that the bid amount (price), income and education of respondents were significant predictors that influenced the level of willingness to pay for ecotourism resources conservation of Gelam Forest nearby to Universiti Malaysia Kelantan Bachok Campus. The estimated mean for public’s willingness to pay is found to be RM 4.20 per head per year. It was concluded that Gelam Forest conservation initiatives were feasible for ecotourism development in future. The financial resources obtained from the amount of WTP might be used for conservation and as a fund for maintenances purposed.

The inaugural function of the conference was enlightened by the august presence of Mr. Ashutosh Pandey - MD and CEO, Mahindra First Choice Wheels as the Chief Guest, Dr. K.B. Patil - Director of SVKM's NMIMS, Dhule Campus as the Guest of Honour, Dr. R S Gaud- Director MPTP Shirpur Campus, Dr. Nikhlesh Kumar Sharma- Director (Engineering) & Chairman ICEMEM 2019, Dr. K. K. Gupta Co-Chairman ICEMEM 2019, Dr. Gowri Sankara Rao- Dean(SAST), Dr Narayan Chandak- Associate Dean, Dr Basant Kumar Mohanty Associate Dean (Research), Dr Ashwini Deshpande - Associate Dean (SPTM), Shri Rahul Dande- Chief Accountant and Administration, Dr Rakesh Choudhari- Head (Mechanical), Shri Rajeev Dalal- Deputy Registrar, All HOD's, Faculty members and more than 100 participants. The inaugural function commenced with the customary felicitation of the guests followed by the Saraswati Vandana. Dr. Nikhlesh Kumar Sharma, Director (Engineering Programs), MPSTME presented the welcome note to the guests, invited speakers, delegates and the participants. Dr. K.K. Gupta - Co-Chairman of the Conference briefed about the theme of the conference and presented the salient features of the event and expectations from them. Dr. R.S Gaud, Director, MPTP, Shirpur Campus introduced the audience about the legacy of SVKM's NMIMS and the laurels brought by the campus at various levels. His speech was followed by the address of Dr. K.B. Patil. He had been the Vice-Chancellor of North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. The audience were fortunate to gain his insights on engineering education and employability in general which represented his vast experience in the field of education and academic administration. The last but the most awaited address was delivered by Mr. Ashutosh Pandey who had graciously accepted the invitation of the organizing committee to be the Chief Guest of the inaugural function. A civil engineering graduate with an MBA from FMS, Delhi, Mr. Pandey pointed out the need for developing multiple skills. He highlighted the current trends in the job market and discussed about the capabilities sought after by the employers. An important take-away from his address is the fact that technology environment is constantly getting disrupted and therefore everyone has to be on their toes to withstand the corresponding challenges. The address was truly captivating and thought provoking. The ceremony culminated with the vote of thanks proposed by Prof. M. Ramachandran, Convenor ICEMEM 2019 followed by the tea break. The keynote sessions on the first day were divided into two segments.

Webometric Analysis and Link Relationship of Computer Science and Information Technology Websites of Malaysia Universities

This paper aims to investigate 18 web domains of computer science and information technology academic websites of Malaysia universities.We collected more than two million web pages. A webometric analysis was used to explore the number of web pages, inbound links, the web impact factor (WIF) and link relationships. The results show Fakulti Teknologi dan Sains Maklumat (FTSM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) has the highest number of webpages while Fakulti Teknologi Kreatif dan Warisan (FTKW), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) has the largest WIF score. Pearson’s rank correlation coefficient was used to detect the relationship between institutions subdomain age and WIF. Correlations point out that there is scant relationship between subdomain age and WIF score across all 18 Malaysia selected schools [r =−.076, n = 18, p < .0005]. This is due to WIF are highly dependent on the quality of the content to attract backlinks and Google crawler algorithm that changes from time to time for the number of web pages. Subdomain age is independent to the year of establishment of the schools. These findings can be used as a guide to the implementation of university web content strategy.

Digital Game-based Learning as an Innovation to Enhance Student’s Achievement for Arabic Language Classroom

Various studies have investigated the potential of employing digital games in education to help students’ increase their learning achievement and their academic performance. Over the years, scholar have recognised how games could become a good learning tool that can improve learner’s performance and sustain their engagement in teaching and learning activities. Therefore, the objective of this study is to explore whether mobile digital games, as a cybergogical tool, can be used to support Arabic language teaching and learning. This study is a quasi-experiment designed to determine the effectiveness of mobile digital games in supporting the learning of Arabic. This study 70 students who are taking the elementary Arabic language course in Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Malaysia. The participants were selected through random purposive sampling. The students were divided into two groups; experimental group and control group. After the intervention of mobile digital game, the achievement scores of both groups were collected practically. The data collected were analysed using inferential quantitative analysis by using the IBM SPSS Statistics 24 software. This study reported that the adoption of mobile digital games significantly increases students’ achievement in Arabic language learning.

EVALUATION OF INTERACTIVE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY EDUCATION PROGRAM (IPAEP): A PRELIMINARY STUDY

The purpose of this study was to evaluate changes in physical activity knowledge among university students after exposure to Interactive Physical Activity Education Program (IPAEP). In current globalization, physical inactivity or sedentary lifestyle becomes a major underlying cause of chronic diseases worldwide. There is a growing concern of inadequate physical activity levels among young adult especially university students. The acquisition and dissemination of physical activity recommendations through physical activity program are essential in the delivery of an adequate level of physical activity knowledge among university students Materials and Methods: A quasi-experimental study design was conducted, and data were collected using a questionnaire among students (n=116) of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, to evaluate the changes of physical activity knowledge after exposure to IPAEP intervention. All of them participated in 10 weeks of IPAEP intervention. In the IPAEP intervention, students were exposed to interactive lectures and various online activities related to types, risks, benefits, and key recommendations of physical activity. Pre- and post-intervention surveys were taking place before and after the program to evaluate the same measure, which is the physical activity knowledge. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS version 25.0. Paired-sample t-tests were used to evaluate the differences between pre- and post-intervention of the physical activity knowledge scores. Result: The present study showed a significant increment in physical activity knowledge score (P-value <0.001) among university students after participating in IPAEP intervention. Conclusion: Since the present study emphasized physical activity education for university students, the IPAEP could contribute to better physical activity knowledge which eventually beneficial for their active lifestyle in the future.

Entrepreneurial Logistics Education in Institutions of Higher Learning: The Case of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan

In recent times, the unemployment rate has been reported increasing as year passes as well as the nation’s economy been fluctuating (Department of Statistics Malaysia, 2016). Besides that, from the survey, it has been noted that students that eager to step into entrepreneurship field were insufficient to cope up with nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Therefore, the main objective of the research is to determine the number of logistics students possesses entrepreneurship personality. In addition, to identify whether the program offered could shift the mindset of logistics students become an entrepreneur as well as to provide suggestion to UMK in order to sustain the logistics program, survey was done in Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) City Campus, where 123 respondents were chosen out of 180 fourth year logistics students referring to Krejcie and Morgan table. Convenience sampling has been used to determine the sample size. The data was collected using a quantitative method where the questionnaires were designed using Holland Test Occupational Theme Model. Descriptive analyses were conducted to analyze the data obtained. From the finding, it’s proven that majority of logistics students are interested in becoming an entrepreneur as well as the entrepreneurial education offered by UMK is fitted in instilling plus producing more entrepreneur undergraduates especially in Logistics and Distributive Trade program.

The Six Days of Voluntary Fasting in Syawal and Its Significance to the Personality of Muslims

The six days fasting in the month of Syawal is a voluntary fasting after the 30 days of obligatory fasting in the month of Ramadan. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of six-day fasting in the month of S y awal on the changes of personality among Muslims. A total of 111 participants comprised of students from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) took part in this study. All participants were Muslims, consisting 91 women and 20 men with age range of 20 years to 53 years old. The analysis method used was multilevel modeling using Hierarchical Linear Modeling (HLM) version 7.0. The LHM was used to test all the hypotheses of the study. The objective of the study was to identify the impact of the S y awal voluntary fasting on the personality change. The findings of this study showed that the quality of S y awal voluntary fasting gives effect to the change of personality which bring significant relationship with both positive and negative personalities. Hence, it can be concluded that the six days voluntary fasting in the month of Syawal contributed to the changes of personality among Muslims. Investigating the Preferred Learning Styles in English Language Courses among Undergraduates in Universiti Malaysia Kelantan

Generally, individuals have different ways and particular preferences when processing new information in learning. It is also believed that their language learning styles are one of the main indicators that contribute to their academic performance. This study aims to identify Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) learner’s learning styles in English language courses. The selected respondents for this study were three hundred and twenty-nine (329) undergraduates at UMK who were taking the English language courses I, II and III. A ninety (90) items of self-administered questionnaire was adapted from established questionnaire on Multiple Intelligences Theory (MIT) whilst, another fifty-five (55) items were on undergraduates’ learning styles. The total items in this study were one hundred and forty-five (145). The findings showed that the majority of the respondents prefer Musical Intelligence the most and the Naturalist Intelligence the least. The implication of this study is on the challenges faced by the lecturers in identifying the possible language teaching methods that could accommodate and work for all the learners since there are learners with different MI within one classroom.

Analysing Generical Moves in Pedagogical Sales Reply Emails

This study aimed to investigate the generic features in the business emails written by the undergraduates of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK). Besides that, this study intended to propose a standard generic structure in writing a business email. The emails were gathered from the respondents' assignment that comprised of two email-based questions; however, this study analysed the generic structure of sales reply emails. The emails were compared with Bhatia's promotional sales letter moves. The methodology of this study was computer-assisted corpus analysis (CACA) by Manvender (2011). The data were analysed using a genre-based technique by Bhatia (1993). The particular moves and steps in both types of texts were recognised and categorised individually. The rhetorical structure of sales reply emails consists of three major moves: introducing product, product details, offering incentives. Although the respondents showed similarities in their moves, there were some differences such as the number and content of the moves as well as the contextual patterns.

Entrepreneurial Intention Revisited: The Role Of Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy

Entrepreneurship is a key aspect that has often been stressed in the effort to turn Malaysia into a high-income and inclusive developed country. However, producing a successful entrepreneur is not an easy task. The current generation of students has not reached a firm level of self-efficacy. They sometimes easily waver when faced with various forms of challenges and the waves of modernisation. Thus, this study will analyse the relationship between the sources of performance accomplishment self-efficacy and verbal persuasion based on Albert Bandura’s Self-Efficacy Theory towards entrepreneurial intention among public university students in Malaysia. It proposes the best predictor variable that encourages public university students in Malaysia to venture into the entrepreneurial field. Using proportionate stratified random sampling, this study sampled 352 respondents from four universities, namely Universiti Utara Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, and Universiti Putra Malaysia. The finding of this study shows that entrepreneurial intention is high when performance accomplishment self-efficacy and verbal persuasion efficacy are high. There is a significant relationship between entrepreneurial intention and self-efficacy. It is hoped that this study will be used to assist in outlining entrepreneurship programmes and activities to enhance students’ self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention. The implementation of effective teaching and learning methods is essential in nurturing entrepreneurial potential among public university students in Malaysia.

GENDER DIFFERENCES IN MOTIVATIONS FOR LEARNING CHINESE: A CASE STUDY OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS IN MALAYSIA

For the past few years, undoubtedly due to China’s growing economic status, there has been a significant increase in the number of students learning Chinese. As a third language in university curricula in Malaysia, it also enjoys a popularity never seen previously. From the angle of didactics, therefore, it is indeed of particular importance to carry out a multi-perspective research on motivations of Malaysian learners behind choosing Chinese as a foreign language. Based upon our experience, there is a remarkable gender difference in this field. This study examined these differences in motivation for learning Chinese amongst undergraduate students in Malaysia. A representative sample of 75 participants was selected from elementary level Chinese classes at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. Findings of the investigation, based on a questionnaire, were analyzed by the software ‘IBM SPSS Statistics’. The analysis of the data revealed that female participants look at the practicability of the language when learning Chinese, whereas male participants are motivated primarily by their social responsibility and the learning situation. An overall analysis of the variables showed that male participants received a higher mean value in ‘learning situation’ only, and female participants were rather dominant in respect of ‘individual development’, ‘social responsibility’, ‘task value’, ‘information medium’, ‘self-efficacy’ and ‘intrinsic interest’. Through awareness of these gender-driven differences, both teaching and learning efforts can be optimized in the didactics of Chinese at universities in Malaysia.

An Application of Timmons Model in the Mini Entrepreneurial Logistics Project

The students of the Faculty of Entrepreneurship and Business, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan pursued a subject known as Trade Logistics and Distribution. As part of the course assessment, students were divided into groups and each group was required to implement a mini business project in the field of entrepreneurial logistics. They were free to work on any kind of business along the logistics chain, ranging from suppliers, distributors, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers to consumers. This paper aimed to trace the application of Timmons Model of the Entrepreneurial Process by students during mini business project implementation. Findings show that students perceived resource availability as highly important in ensuring the success of the given project, and this is followed by the need for creativity and leadership quality. Correlation analysis indicates that creativity is significantly related to leadership quality, teamwork, resources available and opportunity identified. Leadership quality was also found to have influence on resource availability. Therefore, this study proves the relevancy of Timmons Model of the Entrepreneurial Process which implies that the key to any business success lies with the entrepreneur.

Atmospheric water harvester: Meteorological effect on water collection

Cylindrical shape of atmospheric water harvester model was developed, which located at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. The materials used for the mesh, fins, core and the frame structure are stainless steel which were light and strong to withstand the elements. The experiment was carried out on February and March 2017. Primary data collection on volume of water was collected from daily monitoring. Secondary data collection was obtained from meteorological data, which contains the data of wind speed, wind direction, dry bulb temperature, relative humidity and rainfall.Descriptive analysis was used to relate the volume of water collection with the meteorological data. It shown the suitability of cylindrical shape of atmospheric water harvester model to be used in harvesting atmospheric water. Meteorological factors implements an important role in maximizing the volume of water collection.
