PAGE 562 Researchers from Japan propose a novel THz-wave autocorrelator which is based on an optical delay line (ODL) and unitravelling-carrier photodiodes (UTC-PDs) for easy observation of optical waveforms. The waveform is delayed in the optical domain whilst it is autocorrelated in the THz domain. Demonstrations show the system working with sinusoidal optical waveforms with frequencies up to 300 GHz. The device has a centre frequency of 32 GHz and a bandwidth of 1 GHz.
