In quality evaluation of Formulation (F1-F3) were done On different parameters like PH, Viscosity, spreadability and phase separation. F2 is better formulation Than F1 and F3 of formulation of Multipurpose herbal cream. There were no change in physical Properties of multipurpose cream. The formulation showed good spreadabiliy, no phase separation and Good consistency. It is found that viscosity of the cream is Adequate. Thus herbal cosmetics Formulation is safe to use was stable at room temperature And can be safely used on the skin.

Experiences of Alaska Native people living with burn injury and opportunities for health system strengthening

BackgroundInjuries are a leading cause of death and disability for Alaska Native (AN) people. Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is supporting the development of a burn care system that includes a partnership between Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) in Anchorage, AK and UW Medicine Regional Burn Center at Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in Seattle, WA. We aimed to better understand the experiences of AN people with burn injuries across the care continuum to aid development of culturally appropriate care regionalization.MethodsWe performed focus groups with twelve AN people with burn injury and their caregivers. A multidisciplinary team of burn care providers, qualitative research experts, AN care coordinator, and AN cultural liaison led focus groups to elicit experiences across the burn care continuum. Transcripts were analyzed using a phenomenological approach and inductive coding to understand how AN people and families navigated the medical and community systems for burn care and areas for improvement.ResultsThree themes were identified: 1-Challenges with local burn care in remote communities including limited first aid, triage, pain management, and wound care, as well as long-distance transport to definitive care; 2-Divergence between cultural values and medical practices that generated mistrust in the medical system, isolation from their support systems, and recovery goals that were not aligned with their needs; 3-Difficulty accessing emotional health support and a survivor community that could empower their resilience.ConclusionParticipants reported modifiable barriers to culturally competent treatment for burn injuries among AN people. The findings can inform initiatives that leverage existing resources, including expansion of the Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) telementoring program, promulgation of the Phoenix Society Survivors Offering Assistance in Recovery (SOAR) to AK, coordination of regionalized care to reduce time away from AK and provide more comfortable community reintegration, and define rehabilitation goals in terms that align with personal goals and subsistence lifestyle skills. Long-distance transport times are non-modifiable, but better pre-hospital care could be achieved by harnessing existing telehealth services and adapting principles of prolonged field care to allow for triage, initial care, and resuscitation in remote environments.

Multicomponent decellularized extracellular matrix of caprine small intestine submucosa based bioactive hydrogel promoting full-thickness burn wound healing in rabbits

Effective treatment for full-thickness burn wounds has remained challenging for clinicians. Among various strategies, extracellular gel-based dressing materials have gained attention to promote effective and rapid wound healing. These gel-based materials are porous and have antioxidant, antibacterial, hydrophilic, biodegradation, and biocompatible properties and hence can be used to alleviate burn wound healing. In concurrence with these findings, the present study evaluates thermo-responsive and self-assembled decellularized extracellular matrix (ECM) of caprine small intestine submucosa (DG-SIS) gel-based dressing material for burn wound healing. To expedite healing and efficiently tackle excessive free radicals and bioburden at the burn wound site, DG-SIS gel is fortified with antibacterial components (zinc oxide nanoparticles; ZnO) and a potent antioxidant agent (Vitamin-C;Vt-C). ZnO- and Vt-C-enriched DG-SIS (DG-SIS/ZnO/Vt-C) gels significantly increased the antioxidant and antibacterial activity of the therapeutic hydrogel. Additionally, the fabricated DG-SIS/ZnO/Vt-C bioactive gel resulted in significant full-thickness burn wound contraction (97.75 % in 14 days), a lower inflammatory effect, and enhanced angiogenesis with the highest collagen synthesis (1.22 μg/mg in 14 days) at the wound site. The outcomes from this study demonstrate a synergistic effect of ZnO/Vt-C in the bioactive gel as an effective and inexpensive therapeutic approach for full-thickness burn wound treatment.

β-Carotene laden antibacterial and antioxidant gelatin/polyglyceryl stearate nano-hydrogel system for burn wound healing application

Worldwide, burn wounds are severe health issues prone to bacterial infections and challenging to treat with traditional wound dressings. Therefore, a highly desirable biological macromolecules-based wound dressing with good antioxidant, antibacterial, biocompatible, and a large surface area is required. Herein, aim to develop a biological macromolecules-based physically cross-linked gelatin/polyglyceryl stearate/graphene oxide (GPGO) hydrogel to treat burn wounds. Four sets of hydrogels were prepared by varying GO concentrations. FT-IR, FE-SEM, viscosity analysis, mechanical and thermal stability confirmed the successful preparation of hydrogels with desired properties. Further, β-carotene (0.5 mg/mL) was encapsulated in hydrogels to enhance the antioxidant activity, and a cumulative release as well as kinetics at pH 6.4 and 7.4 was performed. With an increase in GO concentration, hydrogels showed sustained release of β-carotene. Among all, GPGO-3 β hydrogel showed the highest antioxidant potency (57.75 %), hemocompatible (<5 %), cytocompatible (viable with NIH 3T3 cells), cell migration, proliferation, and in vitro wound healing. Also, GPGO-3 β hydrogel showed efficient antibacterial activity (%inhibition of 85.5 % and 80.2 % and zone of 11 mm and 9.8 mm against S. aureus and E. coli). These results demonstrated the ability of GPGO-3 β hydrogel as a promising candidate for burn wound healing applications.

Effect of platelet-rich plasma in treating patients with burn wounds: A meta-analysis.

A meta-analysis was conducted to investigate the effects of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the treatment of burn wounds and to provide a scientific basis for clinical drug therapy. We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Wanfang databases to identify randomised controlled trials (RCTs) on PRP in treating burn wounds, with the control group being treated with conventional treatments and the intervention group being treated with PRP alone or combined with PRP on the basis of the control group. The search duration was each database's inception to September 2023. The literature was screened, data were extracted and quality was assessed by two independent researchers. Data analysis was performed using the Review Manager 5.4 software. Eighteen RCTs comprising 1463 patients were included in the analysis. The meta-analysis revealed that the application of PRP significantly improved the wound healing rate (standardised mean difference [SMD]: 1.11, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.54-1.67, p < 0.001), shortened wound healing time (SMD: -1.69, 95% CIs: -2.21 to -1.17, p < 0.001) and reduced the incidence of adverse events (7.03% vs. 18.93%, odds ratio [OR]: 0.32, 95% CI: 0.20-0.53, p < 0.001), and also significantly reduced patients' pain (SMD: -1.86, 95% CI: -2.47 to -1.25, p < 0.001) of burn patients when compared with the control group. This study showed that PRP is effective in repairing burn wounds, promoting wound healing, reducing the incidence of adverse events and reducing patient pain, making it worthy of clinical promotion and application.

Biomimetic nanoparticles of platelet membranes carrying bFGF and VEGFA genes promote deep burn wound healing

IntroductionThe treatment of burn wounds, especially deep burn wounds, remains a major clinical challenge. Growth factors such as basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) show great potential in promoting the healing of damaged tissues. This study explored wound healing following targeted delivery of bFGF and VEGFA genes into deep burn wounds through a novel platelet membrane-coated nanoparticle (PM@gene-NP) complex delivery system. MethodsFirst, bFGF and VEGFA genes were inserted into plasmid (pEGFP-N1) vectors. Subsequently, the assembled plasmids were loaded onto nanoparticles to form gene-loaded nanoparticle complexes, which were then wrapped with extracted platelet membrane, fully simulating the characteristics of platelets, in order to actively target sites of inflammatory damage. After administration of PM@gene-NP complexes through the tail vein of rats, a series of experiments were conducted to evaluate wound healing. ResultsThe PM@gene-NP complexes effectively targeted the burn sites. After the administration of the PM@gene-NP complexes, the rats exhibited increased blood flow in the burn wounds, which also healed faster than control groups. Histological results showed fewer inflammatory cells in the burned skin tissue after treatment. After the wounds healed, the production of hair follicles, sebaceous glands and other skin accessories in the skin tissue increased. ConclusionOur results showed that the PM@gene-NP complexes can effectively deliver gene therapy to the injured area, and this delivery system should be considered as a potential method for treating deep burns.

Macrophage metabolism reprogramming EGCG-Cu coordination capsules delivered in polyzwitterionic hydrogel for burn wound healing and regeneration.

Excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) at severe burn injury sites may promote metabolic reprogramming of macrophages to induce a deteriorative and uncontrolled inflammation cycle, leading to delayed wound healing and regeneration. Here, a novel bioactive, anti-fouling, flexible polyzwitterionic hydrogel encapsulated with epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)-copper (Cu) capsules (termed as EGCG-Cu@CBgel) is engineered for burn wound management, which is dedicated to synergistically exerting ROS-scavenging, immune metabolic regulation and pro-angiogenic effects. EGCG-Cu@CBgel can scavenge ROS to normalize intracellular redox homeostasis, effectively relieving oxidative damages and blocking proinflammatory signal transduction. Importantly, EGCG-Cu can inhibit the activity of hexokinase and phosphofructokinase, alleviate accumulation of pyruvate and convert it to acetyl coenzyme A (CoA), whereby inhibits glycolysis and normalizes tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle. Additionally, metabolic reprogramming of macrophages by EGCG-Cu downregulates M1-type polarization and the expression of proinflammatory cytokines both in vitro and in vivo. Meanwhile, copper ions (Cu2+) released from the hydrogel facilitate angiogenesis. EGCG-Cu@CBgel significantly accelerates the healing of severe burn wound via promoting wound closure, weakening tissue-damaging inflammatory responses and enhancing the remodeling of pathological structure. Overall, this study demonstrates the great potential of bioactive hydrogel dressing in treating burn wounds without unnecessary secondary damage to newly formed skin, and highlights the importance of immunometabolism modulation in tissue repair and regeneration.

Angiogenesis, hemocompatibility and bactericidal effect of bioactive natural polymer-based bilayer adhesive skin substitute for infected burned wound healing.

Thermal wounds are complex and lethal with irregular shapes, risk of infection, slow healing, and large surface area. The mortality rate in patients with infected burns is twice that of non-infected burns. Developing multifunctional skin substitutes to augment the healing rate of infected burns is vital. Herein, we 3D printed a hydrogel scaffold comprising carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCs) and oxidized alginate grafted catechol (O-AlgCat) on a hydrophobic electrospun layer, forming a bilayer skin substitute (BSS). The functional layer (FL) was fabricated by physiochemical crosslinking to ensure favorable biodegradability. The gallium-containing hydrophobic electrospun layer or backing layer (BL) could mimic the epidermis of skin, avoiding fluid penetration and offering antibacterial activity. 3D printed FL contains catechol, gallium, and biologically active platelet rich fibrin (PRF) to adhere to both tissue and BL, show antibacterial activity, encourage angiogenesis, cell growth, and migration. The fabricated bioactive BSS exhibited noticeable adhesive properties (P≤0.05), significant antibacterial activity (P≤0.05), faster clot formation, and the potential to promote proliferation (P≤0.05) and migration (P≤0.05) of L929cells. Furthermore, the angiogenesis was significantly higher (P≤0.05) when evaluated in vivo and in ovo. The BSS-covered wounds healed faster due to low inflammation and high collagen density. Based on the obtained results, the fabricated bioactive BSS could be an effective treatment for infected burn wounds.

Clinical Efficacy of Andrographis paniculata Extracted Scrub Compared With 4% Chlorhexidine Scrub in Burn Wounds: A Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial

Objective: The primary objective of this study is to compare the healing rate between AP soap and 4% Chlorhexidine solution in superficial second-degree burn wounds. The secondary objectives include the analgesic effect and moisturization of these two products. Materials and Methods: Data was collected between 2019 and 2021. Patients aged 18 years and above, with superficial second-degree burns including at least 20% of TBSA, and admitted to the Burn Unit within 24 hours of injury were included. They were randomly assigned to two groups: Andrographis paniculata with Perilla oil liquid soap group (AP group) and 4% Chlorhexidine group (control group). The measurements included percentage of epithelialization, pain score during wound cleansing, itching score after wound cleansing, and dry skin specified symptoms. All patients received standard care for burn wound treatment. Results: A total enrollment was 23 patients in this study (12 in the AP group and 11 in the control group). The median age was 38.5 years. There were no statistically significant differences in age, %TBSA, and initial wound size between both groups (p &gt; 0.05). Although the healing time was similar in both groups, (18.5 vs. 20.1, p=0.347), the AP group had a significantly lower pain score than the control group (4.7 vs. 5.4, p=0.020). Moreover, the AP group demonstrated significant improvements in itching score and SRRC score at 14 days compared to the control group (5.1 vs. 6.0, p 0.039 and 1.08 vs. 1.55, p 0.020, respectively). There were no adverse effects during this study. Conclusion: Patients treated with Andrographis paniculata with Perilla oil liquid soap experienced less pain and better moisturization compared to those treated with the standard 4% chlorhexidine solution, while achieving a comparable healing rate. A future large-scale prospective trial is recommended.

Expert consensus on the management of deep partial-thickness burn wounds in pediatric patients (2023 version)

Burns are the leading cause of accidental injuries among Chinese children. Due to the strong wound repair ability and the demand for growth and development in pediatric patients, there are many options for the treatment of deep partial-thickness burn wounds in pediatric patients, while many controversies about the strategies for treatment of this kind of wounds also exist. This article assembled the consensus reached by experts in burns and relevant fields in China and abroad on the management of thermal-induced deep partial-thickness burn wounds in pediatric patients aged 1-6 years, including definition and diagnosis, surgical treatment, non-surgical treatment, wound dressings, application of growth factors, treatment of infectious wounds, prevention and treatment of scar, to provide guiding recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of deep partial-thickness burn wounds in pediatric patients in China.

Metallic-Polyphenolic Nanoparticles Reinforced Cationic Guar Gum Hydrogel for Effectively Treating Burn Wound.

The development of injectable hydrogel dressings which are long-term moisturizing, easy-to-apply, and effectively inhibiting infection and inflammatory is essential to promote burn wound repairing. Herein, an injectable hydrogel with moisturizing, antibacterial, and anti-inflammation abilities via multiple reversible interactions between cation guar gum (CG) and metallic-polyphenolic nanoparticles (PA-ZnII NPs) is developed. Specifically, PA-ZnII NPs is formed by synergistic complexation of protocatechualdehyde (PA) and zinc ion (Zn2+ ), provides CGPZ hydrogel with plentiful reversible interactions to inhibit the loss of moist. By interacting with PA-ZnII NPs, the CGPZ hydrogel can provide enhanced moisturization for more than 3 days. Moreover, the CGPZ hydrogel can maintain good adhesion for a period of time with injection and self-healing capabilities due to reversible interactions between CG and PA-ZnII NPs. In addition, CGPZ hydrogel exhibits outstanding broad spectrum antibacterial performance, as its killing efficiency against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus is all greater than 99.99%. Importantly, compared with commercial dressing, the CGPZ hydrogel can promote wound healing faster by inhibiting tissue damage from dysregulated inflammation and accelerating neovascularization. It is believed that the moisturizing CGPZ hydrogel with antibacterial and anti-inflammation performance can serve as a promising dressing for the effective treatment of burn wound.

Cassia Angustifolia Primed ASCs Accelerate Burn Wound Healing by Modulation of Inflammatory Response.

Thermal traumas impose a huge burden on healthcare systems. This merits the need for advanced but cost-effective remedies with clinical prospects. In this context, we prepared a regenerative 3D-construct comprising of Cassia angustifolia extract (SM) primed adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) laden amniotic membrane for faster burn wound repair. ASCs were preconditioned with SM (30µg/ml for 24h), and subsequently exposed to in-vitro thermal injury (51°C,10min). In-vivo thermal injury was induced by placing pre-heated copper-disc (2cm diameter) on dorsum of the Wistar rats. ASCs (2.0 × 105) pre-treated with SM (SM-ASCs), cultured on stromal side of amniotic membrane (AM) were transplanted in rat heat-injury model. Non-transplanted heat-injured rats and non-heat-injured rats were kept as controls. The significantly upregulated expression of IGF1, SDF1A, TGFβ1, VEGF, GSS, GSR, IL4, BCL2 genes and downregulation of BAX, IL6, TNFα, and NFkB1 in SM-ASCs in in-vitro and in-vivo settings confirmed its potential in promoting cell-proliferation, migration, angiogenesis, antioxidant, cell-survival, anti-inflammatory, and wound healing activity. Moreover, SM-ASCs induced early wound closure, better architecture, normal epidermal thickness, orderly-arranged collagen fibers, and well-developed skin appendages in healed rat-skin transplanted with AM+SM-ASCs, additionally confirmed by increased expression of structural genes (Krt1, Krt8, Krt19, Desmin, Vimentin, α-Sma) in comparison to untreated-ASCs laden-AM transplanted in heat injured rats. SM priming effectively enabled ASCs to counter thermal injury by significantly enhancing cell survival and reducing inflammation upon transplantation. This study provides bases for development of effective combinational therapies (natural scaffold, medicine, and stem cells) with clinical prospects for treating burn wounds.

Development of dual-functional core-shell electrospun mats with controlled release of anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agents for the treatment of corneal alkali burn injuries

In this study, a novel dual-drug carrier for the co-administration of an anti-inflammatory and antibiotic agent consisting of core-shell nanofibers for the treatment of cornea alkali burns was designed. The core-shell nanofibers were prepared via coaxial electrospinning of curcumin-loaded silk fibroin as the core and vancomycin-loaded chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as the shell.Electron microscopy (SEM and TEM) images confirmed the preparation of smooth, bead-free, and continuous fibers that formed clear core-shell structures. For further studies, nanofiber mats were cross-linked by heat treatment to avoid rapid disintegration in water and improve both mechanical properties and drug release. The release profile of curcumin and vancomycin indicated an initial burst release, continued by the extended release of both drugs within 72 hours. Rabbit corneal cells demonstrated high rates of proliferation when evaluated using a cell metabolism assay. Finally, the therapeutic efficiency of core/shell nanofibers in healing cornea alkali burn was studied by microscopic and macroscopic observation, fluorescence staining, and hematoxylin-eosin assay on rabbit eyes. The anti-inflammatory activity of fabricated fibers was evaluated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and Immunofluorescence analysis. In conclusion, using a robust array of in vitro and in vivo experiments this study demonstrated the ability of the dual-drug carriers to promote corneal re-epithelialization, minimize inflammation, and inhibit corneal neovascularization. Since these parameters are critical to the healing of corneal wounds from alkali burns, we suggest that this discovery represents a promising future therapeutic agent that warrants further study in humans.

Evaluation ofTopical Off-the-Shelf Therapies to Reduce the Need to Evacuate Battlefield-Injured Warfighters.

Immediate evacuation of burn casualties can be challenging in austere environments, and it is predicted to be even more difficult in future multi-domain battlespaces against near-peer foes. Therefore, a need exists to treat burn wounds at the point of injury to protect the exposed injury for an extended period. In this study, we compare two commercially available FDA-approved therapies to the current gold standard of care (GSOC), excisional debridement followed by the application of split-thickness skin graft, and the standard for prolonged field care, silver sulfadiazine (SSD) cream. The shelf-stable therapies evaluated were irradiated human skin (IHS) allograft and polylactic acid (PLA). Our objective was to study whether they have the potential capability to reduce the need for evacuation to a burn center for surgical intervention so that the combat power can be preserved in the field. Sixteen burns (50 cm2) were created on the dorsum of four anesthetized swine. All materials were sterile, but a sterile field was not utilized in order to simulate the prolonged field care setting. The wounds were then treated with PLA, IHS, and SSD cream, and the remaining wounds (designated GSOC) were also treated with SSD cream. On post-operative day (POD) 3, sterile surgical debridement and skin grafting (1:4) were performed on the GSOC wounds. Burn healing was followed for either PODs 10, 14, 21, or 28, wherein one animal was humanely euthanized at each time point; each represented a time point of the healing process. A full-thickness excisional biopsy was taken from each wound immediately after euthanasia to give a cross-section view of the wound edge to edge. Wound healing was determined by the histological analysis of wound re-epithelialization, epidermal thickness, rete ridges, and scar elevation index and macroscopically using noninvasive imaging systems. The PLA and IHS treatments did not need to be reapplied to the wounds during the course of the experiment, unlike SSD, which was reapplied at each assessment time point. In terms of re-epithelialization, on POD 10, IHS and SSD were similar to the GSOC; on POD 14, all treatments were similar; on POD 21, PLA and IHS were similar to SSD; finally, on POD 28, re-epithelialization was similar in all groups. On POD 28, scar elevation index and rete ridges/mm were similar to all groups, and epidermal and dermal thickness for PLA and IHS were similar to GSOC. This preclinical study demonstrated that the use of the PLA and the IHS dressings resulted in similar outcomes to the GSOC-treated burns in several key metrics of wound healing. These therapies represent a potentially useful tool in current and future battlespaces, where surgical intervention is not possible. The products are lightweight and, more importantly, stable at room temperature for their entire shelf lives. This would allow for easy storage and transport by medical practitioners in the field.

Immune Diagnostics and Immunotherapy of Burn Sepsis

The paper analyzes the literature data and authors proper experience in the study of immunopathogenesis and immunodiagnosis of burn sepsis. It argues the issues of effective use of immunocorrection in the complex treatment of severely burned patients.Diagnosis of sepsis after severe burn injury is challenging due to the overlap of signs and clinical manifestations of the hypermetabolic reaction of thermal injury and sepsis. The systemic inflammatory response caused by burns can mimic manifestations of sepsis and complicate its early diagnosis. Considering this, modern immunodiagnostics can serve as an effective tool in identifying damaged key immune markers in burns, determining the severity of immune status disorders in burn disease and the risk of developing septic complications for timely immunocorrection and providing appropriate complex therapy for patients with extensive burns.However, the problem of immunocorrective therapy in severely burned patients remains extremely relevant, debatable and not fully resolved. It is a personalized approach based on immune analysis and clinical recommendations for the complex treatment of burn injury that should be applied in the immunotherapy of burn sepsis to improve the clinical outcomes and, possibly, prevent the development of sepsis in patients with severe burn injury.

Fabrication and evaluation of vitamin doped Zno/AgNPs nanocomposite based wheat gluten films: a promising findings for burn wound treatment

Burn wound treatment remains a significant issue in wound care management especially when multidrug resistant bacterial infection and accumulation are present. Delayed wound healing is mostly due to ineffectiveness of commercially available wound dressings that protects the wound but less efficient in healing perspective. Therefore, nano-based wound dressing might be efficient solution for wound healing management. The present study reports the fabrication and evaluation of zinc oxide (ZnO) or silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) capped with vitamin A or E nanocomposite that were incorporated in wheat gluten (WG) films. The chemical structure, phase purity, and morphological features confirmed the successful coating of NPs by vitamins A and E and their interaction with WG during film casting. The maximum swelling response was observed by NPs vitamin composite WG films than control films while slow release of vitamins and NPs from films was observed up to 24 h. WG films either carrying ZnO or Ag NPs, and vitamin A or E demonstrated significant antioxidant and antibacterial potential. The NPs-vitamin composite loaded WG films showed wound contraction within 14 days during in vivo burn wound healing experiments on mice model. The rates of wound healing, re-epithelialization, collagen deposition with fibroblast regeneration, adipocytes, and hair follicle development were observed through visual and histopathological examination. The study reveals that vitamin A or E doped ZnO or Ag NPs fabricated in WG can be efficiently used against burn wounds due to their physiochemical and biological properties. Furthermore the biocompatible nature and biodegradable potential make the films more prone to mankind maneuver for initial protection and healing remedy.

Fast-Gelling Polyethylene Glycol/Polyethyleneimine Hydrogels Degradable by Visible-Light.

The treatment of burn wounds remains a clinical challenge due to the need for repeated dressings changes. Therefore, the development of a dressing system that can be atraumatically removed from the wound bed can be considered a breakthrough and improve treatment times. In this work, the development of an injectable, fast-gelling hydrogel is proposed that can change its mechanical properties when exposed to visible light. The hydrogels are prepared by a "click" amino-yne reaction between poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) functionalized with propiolic acid and the amino groups of poly(ethyleneimine) (PEI). The hydrogels exhibit a fast gelation time, which can be adjusted by changing the weight percentage and molecular weight of the precursors. They also exhibit good swelling ability and adhesion to living tissues. More importantly, their mechanical properties changed upon irradiation with green light. This loss of properties is achieved by a 1 O2 -mediated mechanism, as confirmed by the degradation of the β-aminoacrylate linker. Moreover, the in vitro cell compatibility results of the hydrogels and their degradation products show good cytocompatibility. Therefore, it is believed that these hydrogels can be considered as materials with great potential for an innovative strategy for the treatment of burn wounds.

Formulasi Sediaan Gel Ekstrak Daun Alpukat (Persea americana Mill.) Sebagai Terapi Pengobatan Luka Bakar Terhadap Kelinci New Zeland White

Researched on burn wounds healing activity of extract of avocado leaft (Persea americana Mill.) in gel preparation forms were tested on rabbits New Zeland White. This study aimed to determine variations effect of concentration in gel extract of avocado leaft for the treatment of burn wounds in rabbits which had been wounded using hot metal. In this study, avocado leaft extract was obtained through maceration method and formulated into gel preparations with concentration of 1%, 2% and 5%. Gel base was used as a negativ control, namely carbomer 940 and Bioplacenton® gel was used as a positive control, applied to burns on the back of New Zeland White rabbits with a diameter of 1,5 cm. The avocado leaft extract gel activity test was carried out on 3 rabbit, each formulation was replicated 3 times and wound diameter measurements were taken on each day. Data on the percentage of burn wound healing was statistically analyzed using One Way ANOVA method. The result of the data analysis at a concentration of 5% obtained a sig value &lt;0,05. Based on One Way ANOVA analysis of the five treatments, the most effective was avocado leaft extract gel with a concentration of 5%.
