Penerapan Akuntansi Lingkungan Terhadap Keberlanjutan Menggunakan Perspektif Pentuple Bottom Lines Pada PG. Modjopanggoong

This study aims to determine how the application of the environmental accounting to sustainability using the perspective of the pentuple bottom lines and to determine how PG. Modjopanggoong overcomes the challenges and obstacles faced in the application of environmental accounting to the sustainability using the perspective of the pentuple bottom lines. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a pentuple bottom lines perspective which includes five aspects, namely people, profit, planet, prophet, and phenotechnology. The results of the study indicate that in the application which since from "People" aspect, PG. Modjopanggoong tries to create a safe, a decent and conducive working environment for its employees and ensure the welfare of the community around the company's environment. While seing from the "Profit" aspect, PG. Modjopanggoong shows that the company understands of the importance in maintaining the competitive, the advantage, the quality and the innovation of the products produced. In the "Planet" aspect, PG. Modjopanggoong shows awareness in maintaining and creating a clean environment. In the "Prophet" aspect, PG. Modjopanggoong has applied the transcendental concept to both employees and the community around the company's environment. In the "Phenotechnology" aspect, PG. Modjopanggoong has implemented the use of hardware, software, networks, telecommunications and databases in its operational activities.

Divine Transcendence and the Possibility of Theological Dialogue between Christians and Muslims

Using the works of Christian and Muslim theologians, this article is a comparative study of the relationship between divine transcendence and revelation in the two religions to demonstrate how an understanding of divine transcendence can engender the proper disposition and motive for Christian-Muslim dialogue. It argues that a more robust understanding of the concept of divine transcendence, distinct from “negative theology,” among Christians and Muslims would invariably lead to doctrinal humility, which will, in turn, lead to a theological dialogue that is mutually transforming. Without doctrinal humility, which Catherine Cornille in her 2008 book, The Im-possibility of Interreligious Dialogue, defines as “the humble awareness of the limitation of one’s understanding,” this kind of productive dialogue remains elusive. Entering dialogue for the wrong reason or with the wrong disposition, such as wanting to assert the superiority of one’s religion, often leads to counter-productive consequences.

Analyzing Educational Prophetic Leadership in Disruption Era in Muhammadiyah Pesantren: Implementation and Relevance

This article aims to review and analyze the relevance of prophetic leadership patterns in Muhammadiyah Pesantren with leaders' needs in the disruption era. This is evidenced by the management of education that uses the latest technology to face the growing social challenges. The era of disruption is changing the management of education that uses renewable technology to face the growing social challenges, especially in education, and how Muhammadiyah tackles this issue. Muhammadiyah Pesantren is an educational institution that adheres to the values of prophetic leadership with that character and does not abandon the transformation of digitalization in the era of disruption. The research method used is qualitative, with data collected through field studies. In-depth interviews were conducted with the Head of the Muhammadiyah Pesantren Development Institute PWM East Java and the leaders of Al-Furqon Muhammadiyah Pesantren Batu City to clarify the phenomenon of education in the current era of disruption. Data validation was carried out using the triangulation method. Leaders today require high standards and qualifications to present quality, efficient, and effective leadership patterns to solve future challenges. The education system managed by Muhammadiyah Pesantren leaders requires transformation with the concept of digitalization without leaving prophetic values as the foundation of its leadership. It is only necessary to develop the concept of prophetic leadership to penetrate every aspect of renewal and modernization. The implementation of ideal leadership in this era is designed with the concepts of humanization, liberation, and transcendence. This research proposes recommendations for concrete practices of ideal leadership for Muhammadiyah Pesantren in facing the challenges of the disruption era.

Humour, Transcendence, and Selfhood: An Essay on Lightness and Truth

AbstractThis article is concerned with a ‘lightness that is as far as possible from triviality’. It argues, firstly, that a connection can be drawn between comic perception and pictures of reality that entail transcendence, understood as an otherness at the heart of things that may be indirectly glimpsed but never fully grasped as the object of fixed knowledge. To picture transcendence as enigmatically near within immanence, rather than set abstractly over against it, introduces a sense of relativity and ambivalence into experience. This yields a comic lightness which is nonetheless philosophically serious because it has to do with truth. This has implications, secondly, for understanding selfhood. The essay looks at three accounts of transcendence in this context: the arguments of Socrates regarding the divine madness of eros in Plato's Phaedrus; the development of a more radical conception of transcendence via biblical sources in Philo and Augustine; and the application, via a reconceived Cartesian cogito, of a more moderated account of transcendence in the philosophy of Maurice Merleau‐Ponty to the themes of self‐knowledge and sincerity. In all cases, the affirmation of transcendence destabilises the ‘mundane’ world and human knowledge of it, and relocates the subject's centre of gravity outside themselves via a characteristic movement of release. In all of them, to grow towards truth requires a renunciation of self‐possession and secure self‐knowledge: the self must give itself over to transcendent otherness if it is to become what it more truly is. Both world and self increase in mystery in these different renditions, and this is where humour and lightness break in. The realisation of this mysteriousness is not a cause for despair, however, but the means by which one is freed from illusory claims to absolute knowledge (whether of world or self), and journeys towards truth, held now more lightly and with a greater sense of wonder.

The Human Life and Dignity in a Trans-humanist Context

The main scope of the paper is to analyze the human life and dignity in a transhumanist perspective. The approach we propose is a historical and analytical one. We will start from the milestones in the Greek philosophy regarding the virtues of the superior human, as was viewed in that era of mankind (what today is known in philosophy as a superhuman). After the historical analysis, we will start the analytical approach and discuss the passage from humanism to transhumanism regarding the superhuman. The discussions will focus on the concepts of divine transcendence and the pseudo-transcendence discussions, the dehumanization of man, the transformation of man into a superhuman under the influence of technology. Our conclusions are that man needs to feel protected, to feel free and to feel human, but what it means to be human is different according to the historical age we consider in the timeline of humanity.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to understand and examine the representative concepts of background disciplines that need to be considered following the deletion of the domain name ‘Transcendence’ and the re-location of relevant ‘content elements’ in the elementary school moral education curriculum. Methods To this end, this study explored the educational implications following the deletion of the ‘Transcendence’ domain and the relocation of relevant ‘content elements’. It aimed to understand the concept of metacognition, based on psychology, and scientific reflection. Additionally, it investigated the qualitative perspective that should be integrated with scientific reflection from experiential theory and examined a new dimension of artistic approaches. Furthermore, the study sought to identify the concept of metaphysical transcendence in philosophy, a core background discipline of moral education. Results In the process of deleting the ‘Transcendence’ domain and relocating the relevant ‘content elements’, the concepts of metacognition and scientific reflection, which are key concepts in psychology and experiential theory, were emphasized. This allowed for an understanding of self-knowledge and regulation, as well as scientific think-ing processes. Additionally, by synthesizing qualitative thinking with the concept of scientific reflection from ex-periential theory, it was possible to explore the artistic level of experience emphasized by Dewey. Particularly, as a core background discipline of moral education, the philosophical meaning of transcendence was examined through Plato’s theory of Ideas and allegories, Kant’s transcendental philosophy of practical reason and autonomy, and Hegel’s dialectical movement in speculative philosophy. Conclusions In the elementary school moral education curriculum, there are key concepts from background dis-ciplines that need to be considered following the deletion of the domain name ‘Transcendence’ and the relocation of relevant ‘content elements’. Future research on this matter should consider discussing the significance of these underexplored major concepts to ensure a more comprehensive understanding.

Paradojas dialécticas del modelo de competencia perfecta de la teoría económica neoclásica

Neoclassical economic theory holds, with apparent certainty, that the model of perfect competition is an idealized form of real markets. Although difficult to find, it is of enormous importance as a scientific concept and as a guide to practice. In this article we propose that this statement is partially incorrect. Neither is perfect competition an idealized form of real markets, nor can it serve as an adequate guide for an economic policy on the ordering of markets. Instead, perfect competition and other similar concepts are topological variants of spontaneous order. From the two previous considerations, a set of paradoxes and inconsistencies derive that, however, do not totally invalidate the search for transcendental concepts, if we correctly locate their place in the social sciences.

Music as incarnated beauty in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion: a neoplatonic reading

Abstract In this study I examine key conceptual parallels between J.R.R. Tolkien’s literary imagination and a Neoplatonic mythopoetic. Specifically, I discuss how Tolkien’s Silmarillion deploys a transcendental conception of Beauty that, I argue, suggests similarities with the notion of Beauty discussed by Plotinus in his Enneads. Following the scholarship of Lisa Coutras (2016) and Michael John Halsall (2020), this study analyzes key sections from Tolkien’s work to demonstrate a Neoplatonic influence. This influence, I argue, is best understood via an incarnational logic that understands musical harmony and tonal beauty to be signs that signal an ultimate transcendent source in Tolkien’s legendarium. Falling short of arguing for a direct influence of the Neoplatonic tradition on Tolkien, this study seeks to demonstrate only a plausible link between Neoplatonic sources and Tolkien’s work.

Meaning of Mystery as Process of Deification

“Mystery” is a term with divergent meanings in the religious and secular worlds. This term bears history in the philosophical and theological worlds. The meaning of the term includes concepts of secrecy, mysteriousness, incomprehensibility, and transcendence on the one hand and its connection with religious rituals on the other hand. This nature of the term recommends that we re-read its original meaning. This article tries to understand the connection of this term with archaic religious rituals based on mimetic theory. This article finds that the mysteriousness behind the archaic religious rituals is related to the scapegoat mechanism. The hidden process of deification in primitive religions and cultures is the reason behind the meaning of the term mystery. Using mimetic theory as a tool, this article asserts that only "revealed mysteries" remain in human history following the Christ-event and defines mystery as a process of deification.

The Perception of Time between Phenomenology and Gestalt Psychology: Edmund Husserl and Giovanni Bruno Vicario’s Perspectives

Abstract This study examines Edmund Husserl’s and Giovanni Bruno Vicario’s perspectives on time. Husserl’s work focuses on consciousness and its processes of synthesis, thus on a transcendental concept of time. Vicario, a member of the Trieste Gestalt school of psychology, rather explores the issue through an experimental perspective. This difference leads Vicario to criticize Husserl, reinterpreting and, sometimes, misunderstanding his texts. Through a careful textual analysis of Husserl’s and Vicario’s works on time, it is argued that, despite methodological differences, their views can be integrated into a pluralistic understanding of time. This includes both phenomenological and psychological perspectives, and offers valid alternatives to a unified and physicalistic view of time.

Republicity. Kant’s late extension oftranscendentality to politics and right

The contribution investigates Kant‘s extension of transcendental-philosophical thinking from the critique of purely theoretical reason to his late political and legal philosophy. The focus lies on the transcendental ingredients of Kant’s juridico-political thinking in general and on the “transcendental concept” and the “transcendental principle” of publicity in particular. The first section outlines the original project of transcendental philosophy in the Critique of Pure Reason. The second sectiontracks the introduction of transcendental features outside of transcendental philosophy proper beginning in the Critique of thePower of Judgment. The third section is devoted to the role of publicity as the “transcendental principle” for a politics conformingto juridical right in Toward Perpetual Peace. The fourth section presents the distinction between private right and public right inthe Metaphysics of Morals under the quasi-transcendental perspective of rendering permanent the previously provisional claims ofprivate right by means of the institution of public right.

칸트 선험적 인식론에 대한 듀이의 비판 일고찰

I. Kant’s transcendental epistemology is known to suppose dualistic thinking in that it attempted to explain knowledge as a synthesis of the subject and its object in an ‘external’ relationship, and as a synthesis of Thing-in-itself and phenomenon. According to J. Dewey, in order to overcome this epistemological dualism, we must understand our reason as an organic concept, and the subject and its object must be understood as parts inseparably connected to the organism. Dewey’s experimental theory of knowledge is based on this concept of reason and explains knowledge through the activity of reason, that is, ‘inquiry’ (thinking, reflection). According to Dewey’s theory, knowledge is established in the functional relationships between ‘concepts’(hypotheses) and ‘facts’(results) as key elements of the process of inquiry, and in this case the validity of knowledge is not depend on the foundation of certainty as Thing-in-itself but on the security of those functional relationships. However, Dewey’s functionalist way of thinking falls short in correctly establishing the validity of knowledge. According to D. W. Hamlyn, the validity of knowledge cannot be explained without agreement in judgment with other peoples, and therefore agreement in forms of life is an indispensable condition for elucidating the objectivity and truth of knowledge. In light of Hamlyn’s opinion, unlike Dewey’s criticism of Kant, the transcendental concepts and Thing-in-itself in Kant’s epistemology can be reinterpreted in relation to forms of life.

Desiring God and Christian Hedonism: awakening an immanent joy

ABSTRACT In the following rhetorical analysis, the contemporary evangelical philosophy called Christian Hedonism is examined. This philosophy was initiated by John Piper during the eighties through the now classic text Desiring God: Meditations of a Christian Hedonist. Using rhetorical conceptions of immanence and transcendence, the artefact demonstrates a desire to transcend the contemporary bounds of evangelicalism through the immanent substance of joy. By challenging Kantian philosophy, which rejects emotions, Piper awakens interlocutors to an eligible process of transcendence within the then metaphysical dialectic of conservative evangelicalism. Through immanence, incongruity emerges allowing, most significantly, for suffering to become synonymous with joy thus giving rhetorical scholars further insight into the rhetorical inner workings of this modern day Christian philosophy.

Husserl’s concept of transcendental consciousness and the problem of AI consciousness

Edmund Husserl, the founder of phenomenological philosophy, developed the concept of the so-called pure transcendental consciousness. The author of the article asks whether the concept of consciousness understood this way can constitute a model for AI consciousness. It should be remembered that transcendental consciousness is the result of the use of the phenomenological method, the essence of which is referring to experience (“back to things themselves”). Therefore, one can legitimately ask whether the consciousness that AI can achieve can possess the characteristics attributed by Husserl to pure transcendental consciousness. The answer to such questions seems to be negative because AI, as created by humans, can only operate in the field of phenomena. Human intelligence, however, is capable of operating at the ontological level. In the face of difficulties in understanding the phenomenon of consciousness on a scientific basis, the question arises about the possibility of using the phenomenological concept of consciousness developed by Husserl as a starting point in analyzes aimed at answering the question about AI consciousness (The aim of the article is not to discuss in detail the contemporary state of research on consciousness. Therefore, many results currently achieved mainly in the field of neuroscience are omitted. It is just about indicating the possible application of Husserl’s transcendental concept of consciousness in research on AI consciousness).

What is Necessary and What is Contingent in Kant’s Empirical Self?

How does Kant understand the representation of an empirical self? For Kant, the sources of the representation must be both a priori and a posteriori. Several scholars claim that the a priori part of the ‘self’ representation is supplied by the category of ‘substance,’ either a regular substance (Andrew Chignell), a minimal substance (Karl Ameriks) or a substance analog (Katharina Kraus). However, Kant opens the Paralogisms chapter by announcing that there is a thirteenth ‘transcendental’ concept or category: “We now come to a concept that was not entered in the above general list of transcendental concepts, and that must yet be classed with them … This is the concept – or, if one prefers, the judgment – I think.” (A341/B399). I argue that it is the ‘I think’ that provides the a priori framework for the representation of the empirical self.

Paganism as a Political Problem: Levinas’s Understanding of Judaism in the 1930s

In response to the rise of neopagan fascist political theologies in Europe in the 1930s, the young Emmanuel Levinas developed a novel conception of the theopolitical role of Judaism. The existing scholarly consensus maintains that (1) Levinas responded to the rise of pagan Hitlerism by opposing it to a Jewish conception of transcendence and (2) this putative contrast involved a critique of Heidegger’s thought, which Levinas identified with pagan Hitlerism. By focusing on under-examined occasional pieces Levinas wrote in the 1930s, I offer a significantly revised understanding of Levinas’s position in the 1930s. The argument shows how Levinas describes Judaism as a way of ‘being riveted’ that does not resort to transcendence, as does the Greco-Christian West, but rather affirms the immanence of existence while breaking with its disposition to paganism. This places Levinas’s conception of Judaism on the same plane as paganism and within the terms of Heidegger’s philosophy. From this perspective, a new way of understanding Levinas’s theopolitical view of Judaism as “the anti-paganism par excellence” takes shape.

Substituting Anthropomorphisms?

Abstract With the theological dimensions of the Septuagint (LXX) gaining interest, this paper focuses on anthropomorphisms—instances attributing human-like traits to God—as a noteworthy element of LXX-theology, where the avoidance of such attributions is considered indicative of a more transcendent conception of God. The article examines the anthropomorphism of God’s “mouth” in the Pentateuch, particularly the unique translation in Num 20:24. Doing so, the study reveals a discrepancy in translating the human and divine “mouth,” employing more literal equivalents for the former and less-literal equivalents for the latter, contributing to the characterization of LXX-Numbers as anti-anthropomorphic. The examination of Num 20:24, where a different Vorlage is posited, underscores the importance of meticulous analysis in understanding the Greek translation of anthropomorphisms, and suggests the need for nuanced assessments.

A Causal Analysis of Locus of Control on Self Transcendence

Viktor Frankl (1965) postulated that a pivotal aspect of human existence resides in the concept of Self Transcendence, encapsulating a directed attention “beyond the self”. This phenomenon entails diverse avenues for realization. Present research endeavors to explore distinct manifestations of Locus of Control categorized into two types namely Internal and External as predictors of Self Transcendence. A study encompassing 218 adults aged between 18 and 30 from Surat, Gujarat were undertaken for this purpose. The measurement instruments utilized were the Levenson Multidimensional Locus of Control Scale and Reed’s Self Transcendence Scale, employed to assess Locus of Control and Self Transcendence respectively. Data collection employed a combination of Convenience and Snowball sampling techniques. Analysis encompassed statistical tools including Descriptive statistics, Pearson’s Correlation coefficient, and Regression analysis, facilitated by SPSS software. This study posits that there will be a statistically significant prediction of Self Transcendence as a consequence of types of Locus of Control. The findings supported the hypothesis.

The Theo-Politics of Ritual: Defining and Contesting the Sacred Order of the Church

Abstract Both sociology of religion and statistical bodies within the Catholic Church approach the question of church membership in similar ways: they take participation in religious ritual as a benchmark of affiliation to a religious community. What seems to be a straightforward criterion for measuring membership actually speaks to a complex interplay in the constitution of political and cosmological order: the constitution of social order through practices such as religious rituals is, irreducibly, also a definition of the ‘extraordinary’. Thus, starting from the assumption that the formation of community is a political–theological practice of boundary-drawing that cannot but refer to a beyond, this article offers a theological critique of ritual participation as a criterion of ecclesial affiliation. Taking the performance ‘Verantwort: ich’ (Synodaler Weg, 2023) as a case, it shows that it rests on a theological concept of transcendence that is used as a hegemonic instrument to confirm the established order of belonging in the church. Arguing that the definition of ecclesial boundaries is an irreducibly powerful, even violent theo-political practice, it asks which theological notion of transcendence can best reckon with, and consequently offer tools for managing, rather than concealing, the normative violence that is at the heart of the question of who belongs to the church.

LOVE'S ARCHAEOLOGY: ETHICS AND METAPHYSICS BETWEEN IRIS MURDOCH AND WILLIAM DESMOND

AbstractCentring on human perception, attunement to others, and a transcendent conception of the good, Iris Murdoch's intervention in moral philosophy remains an insightful and evocative source for ethical theory. Discerning some pervasive dualisms that hamper its coherence and development, I suggest that her work finds a generative conversation partner in the contemporary metaphysician, William Desmond. Desmond's thought offers promising avenues to overcome these dualisms by repositioning the source and nature of value and by theorising an anti‐reductive, relational ontology. Staging a constructive encounter between these two thinkers that preserves Murdoch's distinct prioritisation of attention and individuality within a Desmond‐inspired metaphysics, I present a synthetic ethical approach that promotes the ideal of attending to an other—in the givenness of its particularity, manifold surplus, and constitutive relationality—as good in itself.
